Synonyms: insanity, lunacy, madness, mania, dementia
These nouns denote conditions of serious mental disability. Insanity is a grave, often prolonged condition that prevents a person from being held legally responsible for his or her actions: was judged not guilty for reasons of insanity. Lunacy often denotes derangement relieved intermittently by periods of clear-mindedness: yelled wildly in a moment of utter lunacy. Madness often stresses the violent aspect of mental illness: a story about obsession and madness. Mania refers principally to the excited, or manic, phase of bipolar disorder: prescribed drugs to control the patient's periods of mania. Dementia implies mental deterioration brought on by an organic brain disorder: underwent progressive stages of dementia.

Insanity at it's core is a mental disorder, the fact that disorder is the word most commonly used to describe the disability is about as close as it comes to falling under Marfik. Being mentally deficient in that nature, specially in medieval-esq society, usually means you're going to have a hard time in life and looked down upon by most of society. In "in-game" terms that would usually classify you as one of the many "Forsaken" which most Marfikians work to protect/help/use you. The chance of investion is wonderfully small however, because as the saying goes you can't help others before you can help yourself.

With that said, I don't think there should be a god with a sphere of Insanity. You can be insane and not worship your affliction. If you want to be yet another cookie-cutter insane person for the RP or just to run around biting your ear, figure out the rest of the RP first and maybe it'll turn into your own character instead of another ripoff of one of the many old staple "insane" characters.

I once read someplace of someone who wanted to RP having a skewed view of things, like don quixote. Like charge windmill "dragons" which would fall under insanity I believe but they wanted to worship alshain because in their mind, this was a courageous act. I dont see why you cant be insane wihtout worshipping a god. A Tyrant of Algorab could be insane. Any hellion character or even palladin could act zealous to the point of, or even past insanity about their views and God. Someone who worships suffering and pain would be views as insane by some, or even people who believe in the blood being one's lifeforce and draining that life force might be seen as being totally insane.

The point - You dont need a god to RP insanity.

The same can be said about "orderly" people. Hellion people, any people. Are you going to tell me that since Konstantine came before them that his RP is valid while Nyrimor, Shraelik, and Iziguls weren't? They all were war hellion leaders of the MC. They also probably acted exactly the same way 90% of the time. Allowing for the players differences were they still "rip-offs" of Konstantine? People get pushed towards certain kinds of PR based upon what they are. They are roles that need to be played. Roles. The game is all killing without the light-hearted "insane" people. and anyway...

You said it best Zippy. Entertainment, Intoxication, FUN! That IS the Yigg religion. If you can show me where Yigg died, then..I guess I'd cry. Yigg can't die! He was like the third god ever! Change his name or something but hippies arn't the same as nihilists. You've lumped them together with anarchists and said HEY! It's the Marfik religion! So my heart goes out to all the stoners in the house. Play your wild and crazy chars, don't let Marfik discourage you.

Why should there be a god of insanity rather than a god of any of the hundreds of others possible spheres out there?

See, you're combining two seperate things in an attempt to prove what I think is a point, but it's so muddled I'm not really sure. Am I saying that Nyrimor/Shraelik/Izigul's RP is invalid? No. Never dealt with any of them much. Am I saying that if they are trying to take the same line of RP as Konstantine that they are going to come off as rip-offs? Sure am. It's a pretty simple concept. You can try as you might to be the exact same as an established character from now or in the past, however 99/100 times you're not going to be better than what came before you and in most cases you'll be much much worse.

Honestly, do you want the best thing ever said about your character is that he reminds someone of insert name here? I'm not saying all cookie-cutter characters are bad, because quite honestly they are needed in a good vs evil enviroment. The pious and noble paladin or the ev0l and desecrating necromancer. Both are stereotypes that have been played out countless times, but they are almost always needed in the in-game enviroment. There are lots of people who can't handle the RP of anything beyond a cookie-cutter role as well, and they would be much better off dealing with a simplistic role well than a complicated one badly.

Don't let Marfik discourage you from playing any character you want to, however I think you said it better than Zippy. That is the old YIGG religion. It has nothing to do with Marfik at all. Yigg wasn't a Chaos god. Period. I specifically haven't lumped them together with the Marfik religion. If you want to run around worshiping Yigg as a dead god, or absent god, or whatever there isn't much of a problem with that.

Play your wild and crazy characters all you want, just don't expect to be recognized in the eyes of Marfik. Being stupid and crazy doesn't mean you're chaotic, it just means you're stupid and crazy.

True, but most people in the game will label you as chaotic if you act stupid or crazy. At least from what I've seen.
