In the past, it has been my experience for the horse to land before you dismount it if you are quitting. I was over Teron (forgetfully), and I typed quit, dying and having -all- of my EQ scattered -before- the game quit me out. Just thought I'd let you know, not sure if it's a bug or not.

Not a bug at all, when ever you quit whilst mounted you dismount. So if you are on a flying mount you fall and get hurt, should it be over a city... or the ocean.. you get hurt quite a bit. ;)

I don't understand how this happens so often. Who quits while over a CITY. What- 40,000+ rooms and you pick one of the few hundred where you get killed if you quit over them... sigh.

Why would a person willingly dismount from a horse while flying over a city anyways? There are other things that could cause instant death that the game gives a warning message about, so why wouldn't you see something like "That might not be a good idea." over a city?

How hard is it to move 1 more room before quiting? If you are stupid enough to fly over a city with a iffy fly spell or log off over one on a flying mount you deserve to get ganked for it.

This is one of those situations where you just point and laugh.

I don't think it's unreasonable for there to be some kind of warning about this. A player shouldn't have to die and lose all of his equipment to realize that he can't quit out of the game in any particular spot.

And I really don't see any reason to be so harsh against ])e@th@ngel, for taking a perfectly normal action that has never had any negative effect upon him in the past. Some of the responses that I see here are rude, mean-spirited, and completely uncalled for.

Above Teron
You're above the filthy city of Teron - even at this height
the lawlessness is obvious.
Obvious exits are everywhere.

Your trusty steed Notglueyet is flying here, mounted by you.

> dismount
[insert warning here]

Possible warning messages:
- Your steed turns his head to look at you, then snickers.
- Always the left side, certainly... but always when you're on the ground, too!
- There are less painful ways of creating art.
- The first step's a doozy.
- Surely you can put up with being saddlesore a bit longer?

You do receive reasonable warning already simply from the message when you quit that you "dismount from xxx".

And losing fly over a city results in death and all your equipment being lost.

Of course from Dulrik's reasoning that the fly spell only makes you hover a few feet off the ground I don't understand how you PLUMMET TO YOUR DEATH!!

What about a random message selected from one of those? That way one never gets bored.
