Hey guys how is it goin'?

right on...so there I was, with my human barb, with tons of coins and xp, so I went on an adventure to seek and locate the trainers of the barbs, so my first idea was to meet with Narloch, I went to the valley where he usually is, and to my surprise he wasn't there, since he can't be summonable I implied he moved again as he usually do to the near mountains or who knows. my point is to help the newbies. what I did was to wait for a crash or reboot and went and trained with him...but the newbie most of the times doesn't know this, so making Narloch to stay in one room would be great, it can save us plenty of hours of roleplay and gameplay.

well just an idea

You are wrong there.

If it is in his nature to wander, he should.

Players thst seek him and cannot find him in his "usual" place will ask other players for his location - that will inspire roleplay and interaction.

I believe running across Narloch should be a treat for players. I still remember passing him for the first time, seeing his great eq, attacking him for it and getting myself placed firmly in the trash pile (this was before many combat changes, when his axe was elite).

If I were to suggest one thing, it would be to remove the 'climb' skill from his learned abilities if it hasn't been already - it's a rare thing for people to wander through mountains randomly, cutting down the chances of meeting Narloch to zero.

FYI: This is more of a gameplay thread and less of a Bug Discussion thread. There is no bug in this. As far as the character, I honestly don't think anything should be changed. Running across wandering NPCs should be a treat, not something expected.

Removing Narlochs ability to climb would be the easy answer for people to find trainers for barbs, and I don't really find it a necessary step myself. I know at least three barb trainers for each skill and most of them are suprisingly easy to get to.

The bug I see here is a players dependence on one trainer, and the player should correct this problem by seeking out other trainers.

If you removed climb from him you'd also get people training on him with ranged attacks from the hills.

pudgy

i think its time NPCs learn to really run away from a fight they can handle instead of just run to the next room, then back in and reattack.
That also goes to stop this cliff-training thing. Its only natural you snipe your target from the hills to train, and its only natural for your target to see he cant reach you and just leave your range.

Having NPCs walk out of range of such attacks when unable to get to your location would be quite effective.

Or an IMM could be really evil and give NPCs like Narloch a bottomless pouch full of boulders. Bye Bye sniper.

The point of this game is to explore and learn new things. My first character was a barbarian, he did not find Narloch until he was a vet. I walk that path and saw a giant every once an a while but never thought of asking him to teach because I though all the teachers were in towns or in the ? places. The fact that Mr. Narloch now can roam with the climb skill just means that you will just have to explore, make friends, learn about potions and spells to get all the nifty IC info to go find him.

As said before finding Narloch is a treat because of the skills that he teaches. Most TRUE newbies do not know a hole hell of a lot do to the fact they are new to the game. Oldbies that play new character know that if Narloch is not in the path he is close by
