So far i figured it's RANDOM..

I have fled many times on horseback, while i have tried to flee without even being in battle to get Ardith's message at other times.

Random i call it. Perhaps what D said with poison and all would be correct it's just from own experience i tell you the darn thing flee's on it's own mind...

Alright the mount I was using had 100% PE and so did I. It wasn't laged at all.
Any Idea when this bug is going to get fixed? It's mostly low lvl chars who use mounts and not being able to flee when mounted really can hurt these chars.

I was tripped or bashed or failed its own trip.

This happens to me on nightmares sometimes.
just gotta be ready to order it to stand or buck you.

If you're low make it buck and have wimpy on cause the order lag will mess you up anyways.

In the instance I posted The camel I was on wasn't laged at all IE it wasn't bashed or triped, it was standing. Yes expirenaced players can get around it, but noobs wouldn't know what to do and would get killed. And if the person is new to the game and this happened to them its a safe but that they would be really frustrated and may not continue playing.

Sometimes you have to order them to stand again.

I dunno,. I had the problem a lot with camels when i played my bard btu ordering it to stand worked every time usually. Perhaps its a level thing too. Thieves used to steal nightmares from my too low level hellions i think. So maybe they dont follow orders as well at that level but im gonna bet an arm and a leg it neeed to be ordered to stand.

What part of It was already standing don't you get?
No it's not a level thing.
Keep your arm and leg because you will most likly need them.

If I remember right, a code change in the past was suppose to make it impossible to flee while mounted, not that I think it was a great idea at the time.

I went back over the updates to about 2 years ago and Didn't find anything about it.
So I'm pretty sure you remember wrong.

You can, I've fled on nightmares already. Sometimes if they miss a bash ro soemthing they jsut need to be ordered to stand.
