The bug still needs to be fixed though.

If it happens again, post a log here, then logoff and back on to work around the problem.

This is probably the oldest bug affecting gameplay in the history of SK. I've tried several times to track it down, including automatically sending players a message asking them to send me a log. It didn't help though because by the time the game notices there is a problem and alerts the player, it's already impossible to tell how long ago the problem started.

The only way this can ever be solved is if someone actually can find a way to reliably reproduce this problem and then tells me about it.

I'll give whoever helps D isolate and fix this bug, a whole level on any non-GM character.

The two likely candidates are:

Holdover from an INT-affect (charm/berserk/frenzy/feeblemind)
A code error wherein the concentration value is not reset.
-Most likely things that would cause concentration to not reset are:
-Bash/Trip
-Death
-Dispel/Cancellation
-Possible bash-trip/death combo.

I think we can rule out death.

There is enough reset-related code and enough inspection around that area that I really doubt it's involved. That and the fact that the issue happens on players who haven't died.

Although come to think of it, maybe if someone in the room dies, you find it hard to concentrate... :)

Perhaps. It may have to do with holding a spell on a N/PC that dies, and the concentration from that spell not resetting?

I don't play spellcasters very much, and a lot has changed since I last played, but does adrenaline have anything to do with it? Maybe if your adrenaline is pumping you can't concentrate enough? Or, in a related sense, maybe it has something to do with aggressive v. defensive mood?

I think I just figured it out.

Got a message in game about it to send a log to Big D.

message popped up when two things happened simultaneously.

Oh, and I had logged in not too long before it happened. When i logged in I was holding sanctuary from when I logged out.

My sanctuary(a times concentration spell) wore off
I had the first tick of "You are hungry"

Thought I'd share since this might help it from happening to others.

So let's hope and see if it's the answer.
*hopes that free level of EXP is still offered*

I have had the same message myself while playiong Gasbah and mailed it to D. I do not think this is necessarilly your case, though. From my experience while playing Gasbah, the more often cases in which I could not concentrate on songs were:

1. Being in melee with many enemies

or

2. Having Frenzy and having forgotten about it

I wasnt fighting anyone, nor had I used frenzy on myself. I think i tried using it on somethign earlier but it either had it or was wrong alignment and im pretty sure i had logged out since then.
