Zhenshi and Teron are the most populated by far. Krychire has seen a recent surge of players so far as i can tell.

Damn it Peso, what have we told you about "mentoring" newbies?

 *snickers*

I'd have to agree with the responses here. I know I try to answer all IC and OOC questions that I can, granted the character I play is my first, there are still many things of other races and classes that I won't really be able to answer. But I'd at least try to point you in the right direction.

As for the RP, for me you may end up with me just doing the teach command to let you learn or I may actually try to RP the lessons some. I normally try to do the latter but some evenings I'm just tired and so the creative process to rp teaching is lacking. I do try to make it more than just you training a skill though.

Also like Benzo, I'm always available throu PM's, IM"s or E-mail. And if I can't help you I can pretty much put you in touch with a player that can.

Oh, and Welcome to the Mud. :D

Personally, I try to stick totally in character when mentoring newbies, a habit I've developed from personal experience. But A good mentor should at the very least be able to show you the various commands in some form. I take a page from many trainer NPCs in the realms by HIGHLIGHTING whatever command is appropriate with the caps key. A good mentor should also RP with you some, even if the RP is not a particularly pleasant one. I once had a mentor repeatedly stun me in between teaching me skills. Despite the obvious Plevelling handicap, I did learn a lot, and the RP behind all of it was stellar.

I'm sorry that you've experienced such a negative first impression. Please dont take it as indicative of the whole group.

P.S. Damnit, this is not terribly coherent. Shows what happens when I type after being up for too long. :sleepy:

Sometimes the very first response is the very best response.

To summarize our interaction:
He gave me stuff. I asked a brief OOC question, about why there was gear laying on the gorund here, if it was pvp. He commented that the imms must have checked me out to make sure I wasn't "one of his buds" ... else he couldnt "hook me up". Continuing to brag about how he doesnt like to RP, he just kills people "for their stuff".... be cause he is Diabolical.

This reminds me so much of Keilan and his no RP in his groups rule. I wonder what ever happened to Rial and Algnon. I thought they left but this makes me think Rial is around.

Naw, Rial would probably have whiped out a HoL and charged the noob's [REDACTED] 8) .

This does sound awfully a lot like Calith though. :(

Usually the noob friendly society is the Zhenshi area, but you will also find help in Uxmal and Taslamar. You will find mentors that will help you that are unlike the guy you described.

P.S. jk Rial, you're the cool (when you RP)

Please, in memory of Enishi let us call it by its proper name: The Mallet of Gank

Why don't you just say "Oi" IC a lot instead?
