There must have been a change in the above commands, which was not reflected in books.

Some time ago, you could "read page01" etc. This, tried on three books so far with my character, The Pilgrimage, The History of Craeftilin and Ten Nubile Maidens (yeah, ok, this book is funny... quite laughing) no longer works. On two of the three books (pilgrimage and the maidens) you could still see the pages with the "look" command, but on the History of Craeftilin, you can't. That blocks out a number of things, including a site of the Pilgrimage.

Maybe, if it happened with one book, it will happen with more. Care to look into it?

;)

Edit: As a followup to this, I can still "read book", but it gives the text jumbled and I can only "Read" the book's description, not its contents.

That is no bug, but a feature. There was a code update in August (see here for more details: Code Update) that brought in the possibilties for new books to be only readable when your character knows the written tongue and you switch the pages via the "read" command instead of the old "look pageX".
I think, help "read" should give you more details and information about the handling of newer books.

Yeah. Took me forever to figure out the old system for reading books, and now, I am having to learn everything all over from scratch again! Just goes to show you, you'll never run out of new things to do, see, and learn in this game. :D

Sounds about right. I updated the books in Craeftilin with the new book code, but I believe most of the books in the Nerina and Uxmaln libraries haven't been updated yet. The books in Craeftilin are written in Deep, so if you can't read that language, it would appear to be a jumble of letters.

You are out of sync. It is, in fact, a highly praised new feature.

I've found quite a few books, tomes and scrolls that only respond to the old system. Went through and typo'd them within 2 weeks of the new system going in, but still havn't seen them changed over. Should I retypo them?

Nah.

They're in the to-do pile, allocated to the appropriate persons.
