What should be done to summon?

The only real plus I can see for group summon would be for solo players with pets. If I was to get summoned, and my pet came with me, and stayed in front, that would give me a really really good chance to get away.

Or just have your stuff enchanted appropriately, take the RP and PK measures to not [REDACTED] someone off to the point they have justified reason to kill you. And if they manage somehow, do what you have to do to bring them to justice.


Wishful thinking that people always bother having good reasons.

Make auto summon totally resist summons. Best way to avoid most forms of lameness. Only time I liked summon was when I was in a city spawning huge numbers of bounty NPCs, and my "victim" was simply running/darting around, so if summon were removed I think the mechanics of raiding cities would need some consideration. I still think there are too many bounty NPCs spawning. But that's another discussion.

Edit: Making gate more powerful/likely to get to someone would help balance removal of summon. Well up for that.

P.S. Strakinvor once got a solo summon kill on Mieu!

So much pk happens that there isn't enough sorc/priests about to have your stuff enchanted properly. Unless that is all they want to do in sk. :sleepy: :sleepy:

As Above, Make summon only when auto summon is off. Bring back the glory days of Gate, please. Gate should not be affected by distance, just the saves of the person.

I agree with the auto summon makes you immune and increasing gate's power. Since rift is similar to gate, would that be increased as well as gate? I usually see a lot more rifts than gates around.

I believe rift can only go to some specific locations not people. Since I never had a char that could use it I could be wrong.

You can only rift to portal stones or rift randomly (it's like a teleport and a long-term gate combined).

I actually like the idea of if you summon one you summon them all, could prove disasterous for the two or three person group that's out to gank one person, when the entire nine person group arrives, it would actually give more risk to the caster. And even with a delay on the summoned group the battle could still wind up exciting. I just think that summoning one person out of a group just takes away all chance of that person possibly winning, whereas if he's grouped and the entire group arrives, then there is at least a chance to survive, just really depends on the summoning group and the summoned group's preparation. And the battles would possibly be more equal.

Although the gate idea is good as well. Make the attacking party gate in to attack and they take their chances on what they find. 8)

Replace summon with locate person. Have it only tell the kingdom where the person is at. Let is have the same restrictions that summon has right now but change the echo of failure to "You fell someone watching you" and the success to "You have been located by XXX".

I have always found that summon was a pain in [REDACTED] in that NPC's that train special spells and skills got summoned away and your SOOL until a crash. Sure there are ton of trainers for every skill and spell but true newbies do not know that.

Although, I have a tendency to second what Kerrien said I don't think that is necessary. Although, if you just made NPCs that were trainers unsummonable then I would be alright with it. That would leave plenty of other NPCs to summon.
