I must admit, the onslaught of requests from people trying to deceive a priest does get tiring. It's understandable, particularly when there's no priest of compatible alignment. But it's a pain in the neck for the priest, who usually has more than enough requests from his own alignment. Having to vet out suspicious people makes the whole process take longer still - especially for legitimate newbies.

I'd love to see a change so that your heart races when you're resurrected. Then this whole trick of getting resurrected and then instantly recalling can't be used.

That said, the number of players who ask for a "rez" is thankfully small. The only reason I'd even check spirit sight is to make sure the player isn't "New to Pyrathia" before saying no. People who won't roleplay would never get through the vetting process anyway, let alone be able to make an acceptable offering.

You could always find out who the jokester is and deal with the problem IC. Messing with the priesthood just limits your ability to get a rez when you really do need it.

I've asked for this on multiple occasions but no one ever seems to listen :(

I know that after my priest was no more, my shaman was getting about 3-5 people a day asking for raises.

At least your shaman was being asked. Do you know how many times Alara has been asked for a rez, raise, gate, you name it? Far too many times for a simple warrior to keep count!

Yuu kept getting a [REDACTED] amount of raise requests all the time from people in Zhenshi. I declined most of them.

Hence, the problem.

Just reminding, this is all IMO.

It will always feel like we need more priests but there are at least two on most of the time. I think thats enough. There were quite a few alt priests, too. Becuase they played until mentor or less and then played their other characters or just stopped (which I doubt). Being a priest does sort of suck the fun out of the game. You have an important role in religion and you're needed constantly so you can't really play for yourself. I have a friend that's bugged about this now, but, I don't see why making something else is a problem. Being a priest is good. Good RP trianing and such. Prolly good for a second/third character. There should be more solid priests that the players don't abandon, yes, but not more in general.

On top of a good second or third character, I think priests make good firsts as well. On top of the near-forced exposure to RP, priests have a lot of utility spells that keep them from worrying about some necessities of the game. Food, water, transportation, etc. On top of that, it's been my experience that being a priest, and thus a symbol attracts RP from passerbys. Granted, it can also attract Scary Mc-KillYou, but even that's better than being ignored. I've been happy with mine, and recommend the class.

End Rant.

Most of them were from darkies or from people that weren't zhensh. Yuu was a Zhensh patriot and could've cared less about people from anywhere else.
