Hello all. :D

I just recently started playing on SK, and my first character is a scout. I am having the usual problems as a newbie to a mud, but I am not QQing about them. Except for:

I have so far been unable to find a trainer for the scout-specific skills. No one I have talked to IC has had any clue either (and I ask about everyone I talk to :-? ).

So, I am not asking for *specific* IC info OOCly here, but could someone at least tell me what city the scout trainer(s) is/are in or give me a broad hint?

Btw, I know the archer shoppe NPC in Exile is a scout trainer, but he is an advanced trainer. I need a low-level one. That, and he doesn't have herbalism, for example.

Thanks in advance,
Montrovant

Right now the Main place to train all your scout skills is closed. So I think that you are just [REDACTED] out of luck. There are out places but you will have to find them out on your own.

There are many, many, many places to train scout skills. That area may be closed but it's hardly going to slow you down much in terms of training. There's an elven city called Sith'a'niel that may be able to help you with quite a few of your skills.

I made sure before closing this main scout's place that there are enough trainers avaiable. Anyway, it will be open again quite soon though.

Thanks for your quick responses. :D

I have trained a few scout skills. One that was very hard (for me) to find was butcher. No one in Exile, Teron, Nerina, Sith'a'niel, the gnome city, Everclear, or the Taslamar Collegium, that I could find, taught it. I had not checked the Teron arena because I assumed (incorrectly, it turns out) that all newbie start areas were closed to me as of Novice. Fletch and bow are easily available.

But what about herbalism and tame? I could swear I typed train in just about every room of everyplace I have been, but I could certainly have missed somewhere.

Well, I will certainly take your word for it, but I haven't found them. The failing is almost certainly in me. I will keep looking then.

If herbalism and tame are so hard to find, they could use a few more trainers. Those are two reasonably low-level skills which are essential to the class.

You're positive you couldn't find butcher in sith? I know of a trainer there, but it might be only for barbarians- but i doubt it. The trainer is in a very well-traveled area, as well. You'd be surprised what the occupation of some shopkeepers are. *hint hint*

As for tame, I don't know of a trainer outside the closed area, so your best bet is to ask some high level scouts (look for scout sounding words in their titles on the who list) for help.

edit: in fact, i'm positive that shopkeeper can teach butcher to scouts. Guess what other nifty skills he can help you out with, too. :P Not tame, though.

Well, my IC friend did take me to a shopkeeper in Sith for butcher, and was surprised when I couldn't. I am going to have to go back there and check them all again.

Make sure to type "train" (without the "") in new rooms you go into. You will ocassionaly be surprised when you stumble upon a trainer you never knew was there.
