Okay, this has happened to me twice in the past two days. I'm just hanging out, and somebody asks me to bring undead for group pk. So, I go around and "collect" undead, and I meet them at an undisclosed location. I disband the group (since they have like 6 people) and join their group. Then I try an 'o all follow Rusin' but it doesn't work. There's no echo, just some lag time. Then when we move out of the room, they don't follow. However, they're still "charmed" to me, so I don't understand why it doesn't work. Disbanding shouldn't stop them from following you, just like ejecting them doesn't. Note: sometimes they follow for only a room, then stop. Maybe I'm not using the right syntax/need to use a different idea or series of commands.

Did you try making them follow you when you weren't following anyone?

1) You must be following yourself to order anything to follow you.
2) They must be able to see you.

That's all true, but it still might be a bug that pets stop following after you disband or eject them, that should only happen with PCs. At least to my knowledge.

Happens to pets/charms/animates as well. If you eject them, you don't very well expect them to follow you unless they are ordered to do so.

fol self;order all follow ghent;fol X, where X is your new party leader.

Just that simple.

That still doesn't explain why they would follow me one room and then stop. But thanks for the other suggestions, wish I could've remembered that.

Thanks, I tried it again last night and it worked. I still think it's weird that you can't order them to follow anybody else.

They refuse to leave unless following their master. Plain and simple. Ordering them to folllow you while you are following someone else is the same as having them follow someone else.

Hence it fails.

I had the same problem at least 1.000.000 times.
What pisses me off is that a logical explanation is always out there
