So, I have met this lowbie that I've helped by getting him some better weapons and giving him armor+bless and sent him to level.

As I sit in a room far away from Uxmal, I suddenly get the following message.
Code:
>

A lowly elven monk was about to attack you, but your sanctuary stopped him.

[HP:100%] [ME: 93%] [PE:100%]

I check the info and I see the lowbie low on health, and he tells me he was confused by the NPCs etc etc. Why did the confusion affect my character many many miles away from that place?

Really not enough information there for me to make any progress. Was the lowly elven monk in question confused himself? Was the player you were helping confused? Was it your group or his? I'm assuming the two of you were not in group formation because you were in different rooms.

I have invited the lowbie in my group and kept him there to keep track of his HP etc, and also to know how to keep the spells on him.

I was in a room in northern wastelands, he was in Meissa Haven.

The monk casted confuse on him and hit him. Then I got a save for the confusion spell as well, even if my char was not in the same room.

Perhaps confusion(and other group affect spells - perhaps only those that don't deal damage like cone of cold or flamestrike or only mind spells) checks for everyone in the group regardless of the room they are in? That's where I see the bug.

I can send you a small log with a PM or email of what happened there, to see where I was and the info command output that I saw afterwards. I won't post the log here as I consider rather sensitive IC info included there.

It doesn't make sense to me that confusion would do that, but perhaps the chaos spell. Anyway, I'll look into it.

Monks in the haven cast chaos, not confusion. Unless I've gotten it all mixed up again. And confusion isn't group, it's single target....And chaos doesn't wear off after death...damn, I'm confused just trying to tell the two apart.

OK, even chaos. I know what I was told from the lowbie, I wasn't there. It still shouldn't have checked my char to hit me since I was out of the room.

When did they get changed from casting confusion to chaos? Chaos is a much more powerful spell that is available to high level NPCs.

It might be along the lines of a particular cabal skill still working when others are not in the room for it to work with.
