It's true. They shouldn't be able to.

It's not true and they should be able to.

I think its time for me to admit defeat, but I post you with this question...

How about wands of shrink/enlarge?

There are wands of shrink. Don't remember where, but they exist. Also, I am not just talking about one area. BTW, I was talking about a dozen areas. Some of them don't even let large through.

I've always thought that Warlocks should be able to buy a pet and have an elemental but I understand the other side of the coin as well. There are three issues all dealing with balance. First, elementals have no mainance cost like charms and controlled undead. Second, elementals are monsters as far as player controlled pets are concerned. Third, there is no effort in obtaining an elemental, whereas a charm or controlled undead or even an animate require effort to obtain, maintain, and "power up". With all of the benefits an elemental has over the controlled, charmed, and animated I can see and live with the restriction but think the warlock should have the right to a store bought pet.

Warlocks are so easy to make nigh invincible as it is, adding the ability to purchase pets would just make the absolutly rediculous. I was only pk'd like twice, maybe three times, with morfinhai and I didn't have a pet. Should I have had a pet, I'd probably have avoided those pks.

I know it would be nice to have access to the utility pet but you also have to consider that there are so many other pets a warlock could get and have so much use for them.

I could have an armored, spear equipped merc pet standing behind the elemental hasted dealing extra damage while the ele uses its sick damage aborbtion.

You would have access to taunt.

You'd make yourself immune to rogues which I think is the biggest reason not to let warlocks have pets. Rogues were finally allowed to backstab wth SS breakers and currently they are one of the very few classes a warlock has to watch their butt when they are around.

Warlock could be permanently 3rd row, making themselves way more effective against mercs. Mercs have one mechanical advantage over a non-flying warlock. Being able to stay third row eliminates this.

I could go on and on and on with all the things a warlock could do wth a pet. Given how warlocks are already sick, there is absolutly no reason for them to get the bought pets with the elementals. It would just be entirely too much overkill.

I already admitted defeat, and I agree with what Cannibal says about warlocks being sick, I just wanted to petition for the one pet in question to be available even when I have an elemental. I don't know the restrictions to the current pet system and I don't know if there is a flag that would allow certain pets to not check to see if the PC already has a pet, but the ability has to be there, like OVT said...There are other ways to get more pets.

I guess I need to stop QQing and just suck it up and...OMG...RP with a sorc to get the job done, no big deal.

Warlocks certainly, certainly don't need to be able to have a pet and an elemental.

Warlocks also don't need access to that particular pet unless they want to be vunerable - warlocks do not have access to spells like shrink and enlarge for a reason.
