I agree with all Benzo said, except the money part - I don't like the notion that someone may think they can buy absolution from a lightie church.

Heh, I didn't even think 'money' might lend itself to that interpretation. Giving money directly to the Goddess (or depositing it in the faith's coffers) would be a good way to show dedication or pay homage to the church. Absolution is quite a different matter.

Actually, the whole idea of a person giving money to a church, has to do with the concept of "what's important". So's sacrificing, etc. Farmers live a simple life, and food is damned important, important enough for farmers /simple people to use it as currency. So, to show devotion, they give up something that is really important to them - a week's worth of food. For someone more well off, food doesn't matter. You don't raise or grow the food yourself, you buy it. You buy clothes, weapons, everything. So what's more important than the grade of currency, money? It's not like you're trying to buy forgiveness, but more like you're showing how much the god means to you.

For people who didn't want to read the preceding paragraph, I was agreeing with Benzo.

Not saying that it might be much, but depending on the church, there may be a difference between paying homage to the church and paying homage to the god.
