Hi, I have a journeyman level scout and I'm pretty obviously a newbie though I try to do a good job in the role-play department. (Failing occasionally)

I was walking along near the bakemono caves and ran into a fellow scout who told me, truthfully, that my armor and weapons weren't very good. He took me to a powerful scout guy that everybody probably knows and I was given some great stuff, most of which was stolen by the thieves because it was too good for me (a low level apprentice at that time) and the rest of which I lost when I was killed by a NPC for being stupid enough to wander into the wrong part of the cursed wood.

Anyway, that's how I was invited to join the Nashira religion. It's a logical choice for a scout but I'm an elf and it has been brought to my attention that some of my fellow followers would be diabolical. I'm thinking that hanging out with these guys would be against my alignment, but it doesn't make sense to me that elves wouldn't be able to worship nature just because they are good guys.

Also, unrelated, what the heck are the astral watchers for? How do you use them? I asked in character and was told they were for communication but I don't get it. We have tells and the note boards... Right?

Thanks in advance for your time and effort,

Marilyn

The astral boards are a type of global noteboard (i guess).

You can rp whatever you want. You want to worship nature and chill with diabolics? Well maybe your char recognizes the balance needed between the light and the dark in order for nature to exist harmoniously(blah blah blah, this is an example). The only time where you would not be able to chill with nashi crew is if there are deep-elves in there too. Join the religion, worship how you want as a char, do what you want with them while staying within the guidelines of being a 'good guy' and stay away from deep-elves.... youll be fine.

I have a new centaur priest I intended to get into the nashira faith, but I was pointed to the pantheon leaders thread where Nashira is listed as red (nobody can do inductions).

Has this changed?

Hi Marilyn,

I had a scrupulous scout in Nashira, and I loved playing her. You are completely right: good alignment shouldn't and doesn't stop you from worshipping Nashira in any way, shape or form. Mind you, you might run into several dilemmas where enmity and alignment will clash with your character's devotion to her goddess, but that sort is in my opinion the *good* sort of controversy - ie. the roleplay kind. :)

You should always give careful thought to how your girl would react. I belong to the group of players that don't think lighties would necessarily turn their backs to darkies, until they have proof of their evil-ness (this is different from enmity though, which is inherent and should never be ignored). Especially a young lightie might be naive enough to think that evil can be "cured", that kindness can cure blabla. All depends on your character concept.

As for the astral boards, seek out an experienced bard or perhaps one of the more known mages - they can explain the IC contexts to you. OOCly, they are simply (as drewbag said) global noteboards.

Welcome to SK!

At the moment new leaders are needed for the Nashira faith. I suggest you get in contact with one of the admins, and have them help you get inducted. :) On the contacts list under announcements, you can see who is currently patron for Nashira.

Some faiths are different, but some do not demand members to be best friends. You probably do not have to hang out with the evil folks if you don't want to and I wouldn't necessarily encourge light folks to run around with dark auras. Certainly my old evil character when in groups with light auras would make a point of slaying a few light aura NPCs just to see what reaction I would get.

Thank you for your quick and helpful responses. I never expected so quick a response.

I think I will accept the offer, if it still stands, for her and now I don't have to worry that I might be doing something offensive.

The religion you were invited to join will not judge from your alignment. Joining the faith with someone who views the world differently than you(dark aura) only creates better environment for role-play and many interesting conflicts. The fact that you are in the same faith does not mean that you are best buds and should hang out picking up flowers, you just believe in the same thing, each in his own way.

Right now (I don’t know about diabolical) but there is (alas only) one dark hearted aura member and he is a deep-elf. You can imagine all the nice role-play that your enmity and your common faith can initiate.

Glad to hear you think of accepting the offer and I hope to meet with you soon.

Oh, geez, yes. I'm the freaking HF of Sadr (one of four, anyways, and the longest one) and NOBODY likes me. Of course, that's just me.

By the way, if you still can't get yourself inducted, talk to Varden. He knows how.

I guess it was pretty obvious who I was.

I've been inducted. It was great fun. I'm absolutely in love with this game but I think I need a twelve step program for it.

Marilyn

Which of the gods do I pray to for spelling and punctuation?
