Post subject: (charmed) An Imm controlled NPC is here.

Not so much of a bug, but something overlooked, this one.

The other day there was an imm controling a NPC, speaking to people
in a certain meeting.
My character noticed with a detect magic spell that the NPC was charmed,
so she pulled up her detects to see if something was there.

I told people in my party that the NPC is charmed, but they just seemed
to disreguard it saying 'i think i know what this is' etc.

Well, OOCly, we all know what it is. but ICly, you see a charmed person.

So I asked the NPC for permission to dispel the charm, to which
of course he replied 'i am fine'.

This is more of an RP issue that I just feel odd with, so I thought i'd bring it up.

Hide the 'charm' effect from imm possession ;P

I am pretty sure I know what you speak off and though I am charmed by you saying so, NO I am not an Immortal.
The NPC was controlled by me (I was trying to give some better atmosphere to the session). Know that whenever you see (charmed) in front of the NPC there is never an imm behind it.

heh, I was assured by other players that this was indeed an imm there, although i didnt think (charmed) would come out. I didnt want to cancel the NPC out in that place to avoid making a mess of the situation, but later i was told 'did you see that it was an imm! yay an imm was lookign at us'
so i thought, 'eh, lame.'

The immortal means of taking control of a NPC has nothing to do with charm person.

I have no concept of how a mortal player would 'know' otherwise, that this was an IMM.

I bet a copper that the mortal playing the charmie wasn't about to step OOC to go 'no it's not an IMM, it's me,' at the time of the roleplay.

If you felt that dispelling the NPC would have been the correct IC thing to do, it should have been done. *shrugs*

At the time she was asking the NPC if he was feeling all right, I was keeping my fingers crossed because if she DID cancel the charm it would ruin the whole atmosphere, what confused ppl as an IMM taking part in the conversation was the fact (probably) that the NPC despite beeing a Paladin had innate skeak and nobody saw it randomly wander into the room. (I had summoned the NPC five minutes before i entered the room released and then it accidentaly walked in)

Also, IC speaking if you see a charmed NPC and ask him/her if he is ok? well what do you think the 'owner' of the NPC will order it to say? "Oh please freee me!" ? :P

ICly talking to my comrades, I WANTED ppl to think that the paladin was speaking on its own, OOC I wanted PSs to think that 'someone' controled it. ;)

Overall I did this to enhance the experience and I hope it did not violate any rules.

IC'ly, the NPC was charmed by the guy, and being forced to say things.

Being charmed and then saying 'I want to kill all paladins' sounds like an evil act. Being charmed and saying stuff that he might have said normally anyway, though, is probably more like being persuaded to discuss a certain topic...

*shrug* Just one person's perspective on the IC nature of this particular use of charm, based on what I've read above.

I used to charm our own priestess wi th my Hellion and have her perform rituals with us (especially when I had HF) in locations outside the shrine in Menegroth. I believe that some suspension of disbelief can be OK here. I mean, she never once managed to resist the domination, and I always took it as a sign from Sargas above (or below) ;p

ICly, I suppose Ingefreith might have 'persuaded' her with the Hellion's intimidating charisma. *shrugs*
