I like this idea, but only to the extent of the original idea, so it remains as useful as the cabal diplomacy command. It will say enough, and there will still be questions/answers going around, but not everything so there is no need to find out more.

I don't think it is a case of remembering or not, it is a case of what you have been caught doing (you may not even know that someone has seen you rampaging through the Taslamaran Palace for example)

I don't support this idea. There's no way you could know every single crime you commited unless you were actually jotting them down and doing it in a way that you were proud of committing your crimes. There are circumstances where you just don't know you're outlawed either.

Why should roleplaying take a backseat to convenience? There have been times when people have shown up for court and they have found out that they're wanted for more than what they are at court for. I can't begin to understand how characters in the game are just omniscient.

Now that banishment works even against off line outlaws, perhaps it's a good idea to show if they are banished in their outlaw list.

If the thread's idea gets implemented or not, the banishment must be shown.

although its a very helpfull idea like other's mentioned sometimes you cannot know if you are outlawed or not. But you could work something like,
Code:
legal Taslamar

Judge <insert taslamaran judge here> tells you 'You are not welcome here, scum!'

or
Code:
legal Krychire

The magister tells you 'You are welcome to come to our city, our Dunjeons await for you.'

or for law abiding men
Code:
legal ayamao

Judge <insert ayamaoan judge here> tells you ' Our Kingdom, welcomes you, <insert player name here>

you get the point.

ps I should not post at my state :sleepy:[/code]

I have been thinking a little about this and I have one more point to make. This thread should be called illegal standing, because that is what you are really after. Those who play characters that are law abiding and good have no benefit to this at all. It is for those people who wish to find another way of avoiding paying for the crimes they commit. (Yes I realise lighties have crimes against them too).

In RL if you have broken the law, but weren't sure if you were caught or not, you would hardly walk into a Police Station and ask if you were wanted for the said crime. The first you are likely to know about it is when you bump into Mr Policeman and he utters the words "'ello, 'ello, 'ello, what's goin' on 'ere then? ... You're nicked".

I think it should remain as is. If you need to find out what your crimes are then do it the old fashioned way - ask!

Actually, thinking about it, what would be neat is wanted to posters outside the city. They just list the outlaws of the said city, not the crimes. I don't know where they could be placed, maybe with the signposts or something. Maybe near the gates. Then you could find out without actually entering the city itself.

First, anyone can find out if they are wanted somewhere without getting caught today. In fact, it is pretty easy to find out.

Second, if you are playing a char that isn't wanted somewhere, you are most likely playing a merchant or your char is new.

Third, I would of really liked to find out what my crimes were (as Acirin) in Taslamar because, I really wanted the ability to PM Big D because most of those crimes happened before he fixed the code for spellcasters and my crimes were getting quadruple reported and the Keeper Leaders didn't care about fixing it.

Though it would be very helpful, I also like being caught by suprise. There are times where I try and sneak in training without being caught, and I think I get it and waltz right into a city, then bam, I'm outlawed.

There are legitimate surprises. An example is when you have committed a crime, but you don't know if it has been reported.

So I don't think this is a good idea. If you want to know your status, appearing before a guard will satisfy your curiousity easily enough.
