So, a character can die of old age?

Also, if I create a deep elf, and I run into an elf... Would they attack and kill me on sight or would a RP talk happen which would govern the outcome of the encounter?

So no matter what, a deep elf and an elf will always loathe each other? There aren't any exceptions to this? What if I created an aberrant deep-elf, they have a high sense of loyalty and honour right? What if an elf, being innately good RPed a naive sort of character that believed even a deep-elf could be brought to the light? And the deep-elf, being aberrant restrains himself from any physical hostility towards the elf due to his honourable mindset? Would this be acceptable or even viable?

Also, what class has a chance of survival against any class one-on-one?

And be suitable to go about the land a lone wolf type?

Could a rogue or scout pass these two questions?

not necessarily, it depends on many things. If you are low level, they wont usually kill you unless they are [REDACTED]. I'd encourage you to act accordingly and not tempt a stronger elf.

yes. Read the help file on enmity. No elf or deep elf thinks it possible for the other to come to their "side" ... ever

[edit] uh, about the rest:

rogues and scouts are pretty versital classes and great classes to learn with in my opinion. My first class was a rogue in fact and they can be a lot of fun.

Characters can die of old age, but, depending on the race you choose, it takes anywhere from about one year to three years. More characters are deleted before age death than after.

Elves and deep-elves are never friends. While an encounter between an elf and a deep-elf may not always end in bloodshed, there should almost always be some amount of tension between the two. If you're a low level deep-elf, and a high level elf comes along, the elf will probably have a rather unfriendly conversation with you, but stop short of killing you until you've gained a few levels.

Rogues and scouts are both great classes with which to learn the game, and can generally do decently well by themselves. If you want to play a deep-elf, though, I wouldn't recommend either of these classes. Deep-elves have a number of disadvantages, with their largest advantage being high intelligence. If you're going to play a deep-elf, you should probably play a class that's going to take advantage of that high intelligence. Necromancers are extremely powerful alone, easily able to kill multiple grand master opponents at once. Of course, there are some disadvantages to playing a necromancer as well, but if you want to play a lone character, necromancer is probably the way to go. Another good choice for a deep-elf would be a sorceror, as they also need high intelligence.

Deep-elves are a tough race to play, though. Until you feel somewhat confident in the game, I'd recommend you play a human or a half-elf.

The only thing I would say is that you should play whatever character you want to play, regardless of their natural boosts, especially as a new player. Deep-elf rogues are tight and there are plenty of npcs of that nature. Magic resistance and innate sneak are two reasons delfs make great rogues, but like I said, ignore that if you want to make a char you truely enjoy.

delf rogue is my vote

One-on-one combat? No pets? Giant barbarians squish EVERYTHING. They have lots of disadvantages that come out somewhat in group combat, but in solo PK, barbs are the way to go.
Close second goes to swashbucklers. Generally, half-elves make solid swashies, though sprites can hold their own, given some equipment. Elves are faster than half-elves, I think, but not as strong or durable. Swashies can rip quite a lot apart just by the sheer volume of their attacks, and they're hard as hell to hit, what with carrying so little and eparry, but a decently equiped giant barbarian with no spell buffs will own a decently equiped half-elf swashbuckler with no buffs.

Easy to play? Not as much as rogues or scouts. Scout with a trinoceros pet and a good bow can do some serious damage. In the wild, they're hell. Rogues just buy their pets, but with circle stab and a good stock of scrolls, they can do a lot. And you have to work to catch them afterwards. Besides, they can afford almost anything, what with steal.

Basically, barbs are for squishing most anything. Swashies are kind of like that, just less tanking and more dodging. Scouts rely on hitting their opponents when they can't hit back. Rogues just play dirty, and win that way.

Whatever you do, don't make a necromancer. Newbie necromancers like me are almost as easy to kill as newbie necromancers like Seromet. :wink:

SK Character: Briner, Senach, Myson, others.
My first character was a human swashie, my second a helf rogue. These were both easy to grasp and to learn the game on. I would strongly advise against castor classes, and elves and deep-elves, as the first are tougher to level early on, and the races have inherent RP stuck into them. Emnity, if played correctly, can be a pain. As a human or helf, you get a lot of bonuses, and not a LOT of detriment.

I don't know about the ban on casters. Sorcerors can be hard to level, but they always find friends really quickly, and they can explore, quest, etc. just about better than any other class in the game. Plus, nobody hates Sorcs (as opposed to necromancers) and they don't need ANY equipment. Most of the time.
