Simple question, why dosn't the spell armor raise you armor class in total rather then inproving your chance to dodge?

That's exactly what it does - raise your armor class.

However, armor class isn't as big a deal here as it is in Dungeons and Dragons. It's not surprising you haven't noticed anything dramatic.

As far as I've seen, it heavily depends on what kind of damage you're taking. I can't say with absolute certainty, but I believe more blunt damage (mace/flail/fists/staff) will see a pretty significant drop in damage when faced with armor. Admittedly, my experience with this is minimal, but I can say with certainty that I've seen almost a 75% drop in damage when facing fists and using armor. Everything else, though, produces marginal results. It makes a difference somewhere, so I'd say it's worth using, but don't expect sanctuary-esque results.

You are wrong.

The spell of armor does not reduce damage.

Armor raises your armor class which is used in determing wether you are hit or not in melee. Once hit it has nothing to do with how damage is applied.

Didn't dulrik just post this in another thread?

You are correct, on both counts.

The only reason you noticed a damage drop, Saladarin, is because you were hit less.

Although seemingly insignificant, a GM armor spell does make a significant difference in both PvE, and PvP.

The armor spell is actually a really good spell. When I was playing my bard, the armor spell more often then not helped me from not getting hit. It does raise your armor class and it is lvl dependent.
