Woah, woah there bucky.

A bard and a hellion are very similar in how you stat-pump them. Both are highly dependent on modifiers. Bards still can get enchanted mithril and stand as good of a chance as any to be nearly immune to spells. Finally, getting scribing and brewing is easy, and requires little time on your part (only the part of the brewer/scriber).

Not to give away tactics, but a bard has a lot of potential in the fact he can use scrolls and sing. A lot.

A little bit harder if a scriber or brewer isn't in your player group. ;)

I do believe that you've never played a bard my friend.

You sing: World of danger that seeks my life,

[HP:100%] [ME: 8%] [PE: 98%]
> recite
You find it difficult to sing and recite at the same time.

[HP:100%] [ME: 8%] [PE: 98%]
>
You sing: Shield me in day, shield me in night,

I believe you said that bards can sing and recite? WRONG.

As for both being dependant on stats, this is certainly true but bards are much more so then hellions are. A hellion can get away with (almost) max str, 16 int, 16 wis, decent dex, decent con, relativly high cha, a bit of art if you want to be spellcaster-ish, but then no strength.

A bard has to have decent strength, 18+int, 16 wis, dex like 2-3 points from max, high con, max cha, 6 art.

If you'll notice the bard actually has quite a few more points they have to spend in order to be effective. Further differences include such things as heavy armor, shield block and all around higher HP base.

I'll agree that they can get enchanted well and be immune to spells, but I'm still going to disagree that all this enchanting and brewing and scribing is 'just a little prep time'. It isn't. It's a serious time commitment that can be easily erased because of how easy a bard can be to kill.

I hate to be so blunt with you, and border on being rude, but you're wrong with these points. Just plain wrong.

I'll agree with this, almost...

They can use scrolls OR sing, but not both at the same time. ;)

Uh.

Okay. Wow.

Guess I have to spell things out in the open for you guys.

If you can't figure out that reciting scrolls against players is generally not useful, then, just, damn...

What more can I say?

Okay YOU'RE the one that JUST said that bards can sing and recite scrolls at the same time, -not- us.

_We're_ not the ones that said we're going into combat to sing dance and recite things at people, you're the one thats arguing that this is why bards kick [REDACTED] 1v1.

I didn't say that. Pay attention.

Just like a warlock can chain lightning and magma spray - not at the same time, of course.

I'll conclude this half-wit fest with:

o all bash xxx; sing songs of sleep

If you believe that a bard can kill ANYTHING in the 3 rounds of bashlag, you're sorely mistaken. Hell i probably can't kill one of them teronian agro spiders in 3 rounds without chords.

Yup. Sure am. Man, I am so mistaken.

WHAT ON EARTH COULD I BE TALKING ABOUT?

You're right. Bards are TOTALLY weak.

It's not like we have another class that can command 20 mobiles and have them bash you to death. What was I thinking?

So...you want a bard to convince a necromancer to scribe 20 scrolls of animate dead...which might I mention are scroll-level based and not spellcaster, which means unless you get the overpowered/strong ones of which there are very few, they are going to be skeletons or zombies max. And you're saying this is a LITTLE preperation? I hope you're joking man.

Side note: I'm not sure if there are 20 of those scrolls in the GAME, much less in the hands of one bard.
