Ok, so I'm not feeling the greatest... so if I come off a little wierd, miss something obvious, or sound unecessarilly agressive... I appologize. That said...

[Training help] charisma

Charisma is the measure of the character's social skill, leadership,
ability to perform for a crowd, and make new friends. Charisma is a
major factor in bard songs and also modifies many skills and spells of
other classes. Having a high Charisma makes you better at interacting
with new situations and provides a bonus to the experience points you
can earn. People with poor social skills earn XP at a slower rate.

Charisma is graded as:
repulsive
distant
sociable
influential
dynamic
inspirational

As you can see, the DYNAMIC charisma of the old bugger who can only have INFLUENTIAL at 20 which is his base racial MAX.

A Freudian slip is saying one thing... and meaning your mother.

I am a he, Fepel was a (s)him.

Yes Charima is a mental stat.

Charisma has two components, leadership skills and comeliness. An old saggy bardess may not be as firm or tight, but she may indeed be able to sway individuals with her golden voice and solid gilded charm.

Wait a minute, people... WHERE, exactly, does it say Charisma has anything to do with comeliness (or, atleast, comeliness based on physical traits that would decrease with age)?

I mean, don't get me wrong, I have no problem with someone claiming that their high charisma means that they probably carry themselves in a manner that many would find attractive... but the fact that it's even being debated if charisma should go down as a result of such things as wrinkles... I see no reason to believe that.

For one thing, physically attractive is a highly relative term. A young, sensual vixen may be liked for her looks, or she may be falsely taken as a [REDACTED] who will go around stealing the local men from every town and then discarding them like yesterdays garbage... while an elderly lady may, if she carries herself right, wind up reminding everyone of their own grandmother in the best possible ways (warm, comforting, and probably a considerable source of wisdom).

Besides, nothing I see in the help file suggests the stat is (in this game, anyway) intended as a physical/partially physical stat... unless that "performing for a crowd" bit was reffering primarilly to a strip tease >.>.

So if you want to argue that your influencial character is influencial due, in part, to their good looks, then fine... whatever floats your boat. But expecting that to be wrapped up in the mechanics? That's just sillyness.

Unless I've missed something.

Have I missed something?

No. You haven't.

We don't have a Comeliness stat on SK [as much as I loved the original Unearthed Arcana]. Charisma can therefore be seen as a composite of any number of physical and psychological factors, weighted however you'd like to RP it. Now, if someone really feels that their miscreant-aligned bitter old spinster character should have a lower CHA as her youthful good looks fade and she fails to adapt to more subtle means of manipulating others, feel free to use the 'pray' command and we'll see if we can't knock you down a point or two.

However, that decision is left to the player. Charisma doesn't decrease with age, and it doesn't need to.

The other day I was attending a graduation ceremony at a college, and they had a Senator from Ohio speaking there, and she was quite dynamic in her speech.

I don't think charisma is based on only a superficial thing like the way someone looks.
