SK Character: That'd be telling
What Nightwing said makes absolute sense. These are tamed animals and someone else must have tamed them. And most likely in the taming of the animal a name would be given...

I also like Nightwing's idea. But as a sop for pet lovers, I'd go along with letting people name any pet as they want - but not letting anyone else target the pet by that name.

So if you're a strong male human and name your horse Straighttail, someone else targeting "str" would attack you, not your horse. But you could target your horse with "stra" if you feel like it.

Yeah, the perfect refinement to the ability to name and rename your pet. I like that. Solves the pet-name twinking thing down to a tee.

I also like Nightwing's idea of "others see" vs "you see".

I don't like the idea of the pets being randomly named by the mud, however. Besides, the fact that somebody has already tamed them and named them a) aint necessarily so and b) just about any domesticated animal can quickly enough be reaccustomed to a new or alternative name by a sympathetic master, regardless of what they were previously called.
