I'd like to draw attention to a part of the game that is fairly stupid in my opinion. The value of gems. Now that we have economies and the old twinking methods of getting a ton of cash fast are gone, ie killing NPC trainers and what not, I think this should be looked at.

You sell a piece of armor, a good piece, burnished tanso steel armor say from seawatch you get like one plat to two platinum for it. Good price.

You sell a 3 pound bar of platinum to the same merchant or a 2 pound diamond for the same price? Give me a break. The bars of gold and what not you can get, the gems you get from chyz'mmm all that stuff should be worth ten times what it is.

This is my idea. Dramatically increase the value of gems but make those gems only appear once after each reboot. Okay? You get the bars of gold and platinum from a certain place you can sell it for a price that fits with the value of what you are sellling, but you can only do it once per reboot.

You get those gems from the matrons after helping them and instead of tossing them on the floor and junking them as dead weight you might actually value them if say they were worth an obsidian each.

The value of gems and bars of gold and other things of that nature is stupidly low. I would like to see it go up. I'm not saying you should be able to make 500 obsidian one saturday just sitting around selling gems for a few hours in the afternoon but come on why is a bar of platinum worth the same as a shield when you sell it?

/agree

Can't do that for some of the gems in the drow city because of a quest, but I think this is a good idea. Even lowering the amount armor is worth when selling would be nice.

It is already balanced by the size of what you're selling.

Armor is generally size medium. The average shopkeep can hold 15 pieces of medium sized gear. So you sell 15 pieces at 2 platinum each, the max you could get is 30 platinum.

Most gems come in size small or tiny. This means that you could sell 1.5 to 2 times the number of items, bringing you more of a kickback from selling the gems than the armor.

What if you are selling a breastplate made of platinum or gold?

Hell, what if it's a gem encrusted golden giant sized breastplate?

Or a giant sized spear made of pure diamond?

Screw a two pound diamond compared to the weapon mad entirely out of diamonds.

Diamonds, are the most common rock in SK. If you don't believe me go ask a scout.

They also aren't worth much in general when sold.

However, wizzy of winter makes a valid point that treasures which are 'gems' should be flagged accordingly to worth more. Often times they're in hard, out of way to reach spots.

There's nothing wrong with getting a reward for a little effort. There is, however, something wrong with getting almost no reward for a lot.

There should be a class that uses gems to imbue powers into armor/weaponry.

Dulrik has got something coming down the pike which will radically change this issue for the better, but I can't say anymore on that then that for now. But I agree: as it stands, it is a distracting and nonsensical aspect of the game.
