There's one shopkeeper who wears a particularly juicy item that is now (nigh?) impossible to get: if you kill him or stun him, it vanishes; and you you can't buy or request it, because its worn. Would it be possible to fix this problem, if not on the code level then at these specific NPCs?

As a lady of the Light I do not like the idea of killing someone for their clothing. Request allows me to ask others of the Light if I might have the clothing they have. There is a gown I have seen that interests me but it is on a grey NPC but I will not kill them for it.

That is the difference between the Light and the Dark.

I don't see why darkies can't demand something from someone weaker without a fight. That makes no IC sense.

All darkies can demand something. It is up to the player/NPC to then hand it over. If they don't the darkies then have the ability and RP justification to back up the demand with action. The only difference RP wise is that light NPCs will help light players at times and no other alignments will hand over objects without violence. Just because a player/NPC is weaker then the one demanding doesn't mean that player/NPC would believe they are going to be attacked or if they are not survive. Seems realistic and fair to me.

Grakus actually has a few points here. The darkies want a bone!

If this was coming from some newbie, I'd be less harsh. But as it is, this is just more whining. You are a darkie and you want someone's item? You kill them and take it! Feel free to issue your "demands" before typing kill.

Shall I dare go into the numerous advantages darkies have?

I don't know who you are addressing in this post, but I'll just point out the playerbase has asked you for this since the yahoo boards.

As it stands now, the lack of this only separates the gap between new players and old.

I don't personally care either way. I just pointed out the glaring ease of being a lightie vs. a darkie on this mud.

At least darkies can beat another darkie for his loot.

Lighties can't beat a lightie merchant to convince him to give away his stuff, nor can they (normally) beat the heck out of a grey NPC for his loot. Ever consider that?

Yes, I'm sure he did. However, what he's saying, and it's true, is that the number of disadvantages for playing a lightie are far, far lower than the number of disadvantages for playing a darkie. Ever consider that?

This 'mythical' assumption that every darkie is a ruthless, cold blooded killer is such a two-fold hypocrisy.

First, you all state they are illogical, hateful, and kill people, unable to live in peace. Then you point out that they should just kill anyone for what they want.

But, hey, why not dumb down all the dark alignments into one general one while we're at it? That's what you're doing here.

It seems anymore, and this seems evolution from when I last played, if you're a lightie, it is perfectly acceptable to be a murderous, hateful killer to a dark aura, but as long as its only to a dark aura whereas dark auras are expected to 'be civil and talk things out'.

Pick one or the other and go with it.

So my response shouldn't surprise you. I've been saying 'no' since the Yahoo boards as well. If you don't want to be a cold-blooded killer when you take an item, that's fine. You can still stun them and take it.
