Uh..

Lighties can't beat a lightie merchant to convince him to give away his stuff, nor can they (normally) beat the heck out of a grey NPC for his loot. Ever consider that?

The majority of lighties don't have detect aura. infringements are bound to occur.

If this was coming from some newbie, I'd be less harsh. But as it is, this is just more whining. You are a darkie and you want someone's item? You kill them and take it! Feel free to issue your "demands" before typing kill.

I don't know who you are addressing in this post, but I'll just point out the playerbase has asked you for this since the yahoo boards.

As it stands now, the lack of this only separates the gap between new players and old.

I don't personally care either way. I just pointed out the glaring ease of being a lightie vs. a darkie on this mud.

Hmmm . . .Is that why the ratio of people that want any change 4:1 against? The only thing that darkies need is more leveling areas. I see a lot of stuff being done for the lightie leveling but haven't heard anything for darkie leveling.

Ever stop to consider that perhaps it is meant to be easier to play a lighty to create a newbie friendlier environment for those who wish it/need it. Request has its big pro at GM but remember you can kill a NPC long before you are high enough level to request an item from the same NPC. I have no problem with Darkies/Greybies having a slightly harder time leveling. The bonus for Aura isnt that huge and gray auras dont get it at all. I agree with the way the system is now more newbie friendly playing a light aura char. Slightly but not significantly harder to play a low level dark aura char.

Although having said this I find it a little silly that I can go into a village and request better armor than I can request from the outer planes. Good request able gear shouldnt be really easy to get builders need to consider this on case by case. Im sure our "newer" Imms are already addressing this issue.

Completely agreed.

Why is "newer" in quotation marks? I don't know how to interpret this statement, exactly.

There's one shopkeeper who wears a particularly juicy item that is now (nigh?) impossible to get: if you kill him or stun him, it vanishes; and you you can't buy or request it, because its worn. Would it be possible to fix this problem, if not on the code level then at these specific NPCs?

This is a valid point, I think. There are probably shopkeepers out there built to fit conditions of the past - perhaps some of the older players could make a list of problematic shopkeepers and send them to the relevant KDs, so they can be adapted to current conditions?

There is still a way to get these items. Talk to your local bard.

I use the demand command all the time.

alias demand cleave &1;

demand goblin

your cleave does UNSPEAKABLE THINGS to a goblin child

Bards cannot make people remove or equip anything. Yet another reason why persaude should not be a master lvl ability

the correct syntax would be,

alias demand cleave &2;get &1 corpse

demand ring goblin
your cleave does UNSPEAKABLE THINGS to a goblin child!
You get a ring from the corpse of a goblin child.

I do not thing that darkies should get something like that, no reason to, considering request was given to lighties to balance them with darkies since they cannot kill for loot. Its a fair trade in my book.
