I just don't like it. Seriously we don't need to reason out why we may like and dislike anything. It is a change that was not really needed and most of us simply wont like it becuase we are used to the old way it was.

Of course, I don't see why I can't get used to this look, I remember when the other site changed, I didint like it. Now I spend quite a bit of time on it.

The current color scheme is almost identical to the old DarkEQ version.

The problem with DarkEQ was that the style was built for a very old version of phpBB and it had to be patched every single time we upgraded the forum. The aim in making the changes was to start with the most up-to-date forum template and make only the changes required to get to our original colors and add the content column on the right.

For those of you who used to use subSilver, there will be a very similar color scheme to subSilver available within a day or so. If this doesn't clear up the objections, then I'm unclear on what the problems are.

Okay, let me respond to the points each of you raised -

I gotta say, I miss the little equalizer pictures that stood for new posts and what not.

The icons in use at the moment are the standard subSilver ones that are bundled with phpBB. I'm trawling through a few of the darker styles that are on the 'net to see if I like any of the icons that are present (with appropriate credit), else I may decide to create our own - for now though, they'll do. Anything with the orange highlighting is 'unread'.

I miss being in subsilver. Never really liked this color scheme.

A new theme called skLight is due shortly. Please be patient.

Ditto. I also liked being able to see who was on and whatnot.

There is a 'view-online' link at the top of the page.

Got a question though about the forum changes. If you pay do you get access to the other formats?

If you wish to donate to help offset the costs of this free game you'll receive a thank you. It won't change the forum styles that are available to you - all of the available styles are available to everyone ... and they're free as well. :)

So are you. :P

I have been assuming that these cosmetic changes are temporary, in order to fit the ads on. I do however miss the old format and wonder if they will return.

The "DarkEQ" theme is gone and not coming back. The "subSilver" theme is being replaced with "skLight". If there's something you particularly miss, speak up.

It is close to the original one, which is what I have always used. There are only minor differences though. But hey, I'm picky and want it to look JUST like it did before.

The theme has been built from scratch from the latest release of subSilver that comes with phpBB, but I've tried to keep it similar to the theme you all knew from before. There's some very tiny tweaks I'd still like to make (including some speed improvements) but nothing that ya'll will notice.

Not diggin the new look, I never used the subsilver and used this color scheme because its not bad, but the differences in print and position are annoying to the eye and have actually caused me to get headaches while browsing around the topics looking for new posts.

First of all, I'd encourage you to get your eyes checked - anything that gives you headaches is seriously worrying. If you're also expressing a desire for a lighter theme, see above.

You're right, in a way. It's called being "outside your comfort zone". I'm sure you'll adapt and like it just as much.

It's okay, your parents aren't here - you don't have to talk in hushed tones about your 'happy time' site (can you tell I watched Transformers last night?). :P

This is random, but:

The best Q player in the USA (a character in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike) comes from Mobile, Alabama.

I think that while we are at it, we should make the forums impossible to post on, unless you have a valid Forumid in the game. I doubt a NPC will go all the way, just to post some extremely annoying add posts.

PS: I paypaled but I got no message of success, granted I am new to this, is there a way to find out everything went smoothly?

I'm certainly eager to come up with good ways to stop the forum spammers. But making you have to use ForumID doesn't seem to be the way to go. For one thing, you wouldn't be able to post to Newbie Forum, which would kind of defeat the purpose.

PS. Addressed your paypal comment in the paypal thread.

Its the change in color scheme that does not work well on my eyes, meaning I used the dark one before and now all the new lighter icons that have replaced the beloved equalizers cause for unwanted strain. Granted that may be an indication that I need to just quit using the forums for a while and take one of my three month sk ditchum walkabouts where I don't even think about this place. Meh.

I'd love to see subSilver back. Until then, thanks for everything Alshain.
