A clarification:

I'd like to see this spell given at Mentor or Master status, to Shamans and Shamans exclusively, without removing the Journeyman raise dead, or replacing it with this spell. I like midbie shaman livegiving powers where they are.

An idea:

I'd like it to require about the same ME cost of a resurrection, but require that the spirit of the person be in the room to have it performed, due to the fact that the Shaman is attempting to bridge the spirit to the mortal plane. This would make it more ME and time consuming to seance the spirit of someone who has already distanced themselves from mortality. [EDIT]: And it would make the RP a lot richer. Most Shamans seance before they raise anyway, at least on the off days someone's desparate enough to ask for it.

But please, don't argue about that minor amendment in favor of adressing the issue of the spell itself.

I think that I would like this done not only for shamans but for priests as well.

Raise dead should have no xp cost with it. That is all! Make this so!!!

I don't really like that. Let's look at the priest model: From (I think journeyman) to mentor, they get a revive spell that incurs a reasonable penalty to a journeyman - mentor. At master, they get a revive spell that incurs a reasonable penalty to a master and above.

I don't want to see midbies ever gain the potency to ideally revive a master or above. Ever. However, I would like to see a mentor or master Shaman be a valid source for revives. Because, think about it:
When was the last time you asked a Shaman to give you life?

Giving the described spell to Shamans, in addition to raise dead, but at a much higher level, would allow PK level characters to reasonably aid PK level characters, without turning midbie Shamans and Priests into rezbot lackies.

My warlock was asked twice in the past 3 days to breath life to ppl. But in this thread everyone seems to care to enforce his own opinion rather than listen to the others, so I don't really care...

Not for wimping ress or priests. Sorry.

Because priests aren't the best class in the game or anything.

On that note: I actually recently heard a complaint from a few guys that started playing that came from another forum that it's very, very difficult to come back to life sometimes, especially because coming back to life can be somewhat expensive depending on who you ask. I think that giving Shamans a method of returning someone to life that has a heavy amount of prerequisites but gives no experience penalty would be interesting. I like the idea of having to have the spirit seanced and the dead person's body available in the same room before you can cast the spell.

Hey, I got this great idea!

Let's make it so when you die, you don't die. You don't lose exp, you don't get SD, you don't even lose your lewt!

You can die as many times as you want with no fear or consequences of your stupidity!!!!

Holy crap! That's such a great idea! We can do it in phases, first we'll make it so raise dead for shaman's doesn't cost EXP, then later the warlocks will whine and get the same as they would have the ONLY way for a GM to bring someone back with a cost!

And later! To give them an edge we'll make it so raise dead on a shaman doesn't give SD as they are SO in tune with the spirits! And eventually priests and warlocks will [REDACTED] for the same thing as they think they got the proverbial shaft.

And then we'll be one step closer to SK looking just like WoW in game mechanics and look how great that is working!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a more serious note. I am firmly against any further modifications to death/gaining life that makes it so death is less terrible. Sure it happens, but that's the point. If you have no negative consequences then there is no value put on life as apposed to dying.

You would require a body, and 90% of pets are marked as barbarian so they can butcher, my horse makes lovely steaks.
