You are also talking about the majority of people being unskilled in combat. The two hander was used as intimidation on the battle field, that way one a five foot scottsman wielded a six foot claymore they enemy went "ah [REDACTED]".

You take your claymore wielding Scottsman and place him against A chinesse broadsword, the chinaman has the advantage in manuvaerability, the fight will boil down to stamina, skill and weapon quality. Again I will lay my money on the china man. You should pick up some of these weapons and test their weight and balance, then read up on how they were accutally used in battle.

I have read up plenty lol... and I know that back in the medieval europe where warfare was common, two hander swordsmen were payed twice as much, plain and simple they were considered more valuable for one reason or another. With the advent of stronger armor, two handed weapons gain even more of an advantage over 1 handed weapons as the nessasity for powerful hits grew.

uhm they were probably payed more elsewhere too, since it takes a stronger fighter to fight 2 handed.

Uh, no.

Look across the world at the same time period and see what weapons developed where and why. Two handers are not the beat all end all of the world and there are reasons for it. Again it depends on what weapon against what weapon.

The beat all of most wars is ranged combat, damn bows and crossbows should be eating everyone up.

i'm not talking about big battles between organized armies. Obviously you can't use a two handed sword well when your tightly packed. I'm talking about battles between small forces, like the battles that take place in sk. BTW, my money is on the angry scottsmen.

Samurai are known for using 2 handed swords, more than they are known for using 1 handed swords.

Katana is acctually a one or two handed weapon. The wakizashi is a one handed sword for close quarters combat, not to mention the quality of steel is SO much greater from the orient that the claymores would most likely get broke to [REDACTED] in the middle of battle. Then there is the whole armor thing, the scotts were dressed in leathers and furs, not the greatest for stopping a blade meant to slice off limbs. So again, Samurai have the avantage.
