Code:
A dirty male elf parries your attack.
[b]A dirty male elf gets a wild look in his eyes.[/b]
You parry a dirty male elf's attack.
Overall, a dirty male elf has quite a few wounds.

I made a jaunt to Fort Tethos not long ago and I have to say that this area needs a serious tweaking. It's gotten fairly bad.

My first complaint about the place is are the NPCs themselves. I mean elf barbarians? They don't exist! It's rediculous. The NPCs should be given classes that elves are allowed to be.

My second complain is the items. Some of it like weapons and shields are named wrong. A tanso steeel shield for a steel shield. A Tanso steel bardich for a weapon that is not a bardiche or tanso steel! C'mon!

My third complaint is that Fort Tethos, to me, remains one of the most dangerous mid level areas there are. In my mind the crap gear that you get there isn't good enough. The stuff carried by the deep-elves is steel junk. It's very dangerous down there and you can buy better stuff then what they have in Exile or in Nerina. I think that stinks. I don't want to go into detail but if you aren't experienced in travelleing there it's almost a sure thing you're gonna die a few times exploring. There should be more payoff then there is.

Even experienced players botch things from time to time and wind up dead down there. There's alot of ways to go wrong there. I think the whole area needs to be touched up and worked on. I offer my own services to help. That's not sarcasm either. I've helped build a couple of areas in my time around here. If you want building assistants that is.

I've always enjoyed Fort Tethos and I don't to to be mean about it but someone has botched it up and I don't like that. The bad NPCs. The misnamed gear and the crappy eq wimps in my mind have ruined it. You should get more of a reward for going all the way down there and exploring a fairly dangerous area then you are getting now.

My 2 cents.

I kind of liked the mithril flails...

Those are still there. But they are the only mithril tings there worth taking. Considering the vast glut of Mithril on SK.

Fort tethos may very well be the best area in SK.

If you think it needs a redo, it is probably your perception that needs one instead.

There is a good reason as to why there are elf barbarians in that place. Try to find the area's background.

On another note, and speaking of elves, I believe elf NPCs that interact with players need a more 'elven' air about them. Take the prisoner elf in morea and the small area south of taslamaran stones for examples.

Their demeanor is very much identical to a human's. Of course, many elf PC's RP no different than humans, but if the NPC's set the same example, then elves in SK will seem no different. I suggest tweaking some elven NPC's to say and emote things a little bit more elvishly. Or is it elvenly?

The solution is to allow elf barbs as a pc class.

1) My perception needs a redo? I guess I'm a total dip for thinking that the area is bad because many of the item descs are wrong. Like a tanso steel shield that isn't a tanso steel shield. Or the a tanso steel bardich that isn't tanso steel or a bardice. I suppose I need to redo my expectations when I expect an item to named accurately. How about a cold iron longsword that's actually a gemstone flail? Might as well put that down there for atmosphere.

2)I've known that area's background since before you started playing SK. I know it better then you. I know all the quests. All the secret parts, all the everything. If you want elf barbarians maybe build them on a mud that has elf barbarians. Shattered Kingdoms doesn't have elf barbarians.

3)I'm not saying overhaul or replace Fort Tethos I'm saying go in and redo all the changes that have happened. The bad eq work especially. You can add elven flavour scripts if you want to. I just think it's dumb that down in the deep-elf barricade you have to fight some pretty hard NPCs for junk. There are a few nifty things down there but on a while I think there should be more and better.

When you said redo, I figgured you wanted to change the entire place. I didn't really bother to read your post, save the part where you said you hated elf barbs.

I'm not entirely sure you were in this game before me. If the date on your ID is the date you started SK, then I'm sure you're not. but, even if you were, the fact you're not seeing how elf barbarians, and shamans for that matter, fit into that area make me stick to my original statement. your perception needs looking into.

I didn't notice you mentioning tanso stuff that are no longer tanso due to my haste in defending what is to me the best area in SK. Yes. that would need fixing. But does that mean the place needs a redo? No. It means the place needs to be repaired.

Hi Vaknafein! Showing your trueself at last?

If you think it needs a redo, it is probably your perception that needs one instead.

Now how would you feel if someone wrote that in response to your suggestions?

If that's the "best area in sk", then your perception really DOES need a redo.
