Probably something around the lines of grabbed my lance, tripped my horse, then instantly set the lance on the ground on a 45 degree angle, and then watched me impale myself on it, while I was screaming 'The horrorr'

...Still, that sounds more ninjutsu than barbaric.

I don't think counterattack is detailed on how the barbarian choices to negate your attack completely and throw it back in your face. But pending on weapon carried by the Barbarian when it comes to counterattacking a mounted charge, well there's only a few weapons that would make the believable, like if he had a polearm or claymore, otherwise all he could do is roll out of the attack.

heh, I remember when I charged Dagum and his counter got me to like 20%.

Back on topic, chem, thats exactly what I mean. If it's dependent on the barb's weapon, the damij should be dealt on some formula unrelated to the damage the barb would receive.
Still, this is just flavortalk. I don't think counter should be really touched, tbh. All the whining and unbalancing issues that would follow are just not worth the fuss.

Yeah, bash or trip totally negate the bonus of counterstrike.

This is why I've never feared a barbarian while playing any other melee class.

I always thought a counter would be to use the opponent's momentum against them, as if I was a barbarian with a great ax and someone charged me from the room, I sensed the oncoming attack and swung in their direction. It'd be like The force of my swing plus the force of his charge connecting.

Which would really mess someone up. As for the change, I think you should get a counter in every time someone attacks with like a circlestab or hamstring even, because like... We are all supposed to fear barbarian.

No. If you want to give barbs a boost, make counter work against bash and trip. No skill should be perfect, and counterstrike's a good example. O all bash barb; cleave barb should work.
