You know the POINTY PART OF THE BLADE ON THE SCYTHE? YEAH, THAT STICKS INTO OBJECTS IF YOU MOVE IT IN A STRAIGHT LINE WITHOUT ANGLING YOUR BODY, OR YOUR CUTS.

The pointy end on the scythe is not meant for penetration. If the pointy end is the initial impact, the scythe will get stuck, and I mean stuck, in the target.

The -sharp-(not pointy) end is meant for cleaving!

Honestly I have no idea what a scythe is for, I just want to cleave with one!

Scythes are curved blades meant to hack down large amounts of grain/hay at once. The bottom part of the curve is where the damage is done, and I can honestly see the sweeping action of the scythe being considered a cleave. I don't think this case matters much.

If you hit someone right with a scythe it could cleave. It wouldn't be easy, but hey--it's not easy to use a scythe in the first place. If the hellion in question can actually utilize a scythe as a weapon effectively, cleaving will probably not be much of a problem.

The handles on most scythes aren't straight, the wood curves to make it easier to hit things with the curve of the blade and not the point. It's meant to be a slicing tool, you dont stab the grain, you swing the scythe and it slashes it.

There is no being easy or not, that is how it is used. It was built to cleave large swaths of grain. NOT PIERCE large swaths of grain. To use the pointy end is to use it awkwardly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scythe

Read: "use"

It is first and foremost a farm tool. You cut thin swathes of grain. Cutting down grain in thin swathes using a fairly steady mowing rhythm is different than cutting down human beings. I think the main case is that people want scythes to be badass because scythes are artistically represented as badass... when in truth you'd be better off with an actual weapon intended for combat just about any day of the week.

But this is a game, and we do have mystical scythes of evil powar. So why not, I guess?

This is the scythe that people used in war. It was a Polish peasant weapon. It was used in a sweeping motion. I only was talking about the farming tool because it uses a similar action.

And we all know about Polish fighting ability.

As for the argument about farm tools not being weapons. The Japanese did it. The Tibetans did it. The entire continent of Asia did it. You know sickles and kamas and pitchforks and anything that can hurt someone.

People have been using farm tools for war for ages because no one can take tools away.
