I heard about that and I laughed my [REDACTED] off for days. I don't remember the details, ask Cannibal. I forgot about it until D said something.

Here is an idea. If you don't think Slayne deserved his title, overthrow him and take his place.

As for the whole debate on how to gauge a character worthy of NPC status. I don't think there is a way to do it. Every player feels their character is special and changed the mud. Some characters do a lot of rp behind the scenes without having the majority of the mud knowing what they do and others are smack dab in the middle of everything. I personally feel my warlock Syeem should have been made an NPC for saving Teron from the Imperial invasion. But does it really matter? No. If your ego requires you to have npcs in a mud, keep trying. Or, get over yourselves and have an influential PC that you can control.

Infact, if your characters do become NPCs and imms mobalize them for their rps and you end up interacting with them. And the immortal's idea of your character is different then yours, won't you be bothered?

As for Slayne and Delear being most notorious characters in the mud? I can think of a dozen characters that had more of an impact then them. I don't even recall Delear changing anything. I rather mention characters like Eliro, Aeolla, Tsai, Lorzatu, Tahl, Loric, Vitan, D'astae crew, Chacorin, Hianchi, and even Xiric. Those are characters I can remember over 7 years ago, that made an impact. Atleast with me.

I never want an npc of one of my characters because I don't want some dumbass killing him for xpz or lewt.

Dude, who have you even played? What happened to only talking trash when people could avoid spam death...it's the lost golden rule.

NM - I just read. Galida. ROFL.

Have you done college at all? Do you know what a fallacy is? Do you realize you just used one of the most common fallacies? Do you also realize I made a sound conclusion based on facts already in evidence?

Just to help you out, my response was due to Dulrik's final sentence in the post directly above my statement you quoted.

Cyra makes sort of a good point. The one thing I don't like about immortalizing pc's as npcs, is that in most cases, the npcs are no longer an accessible part of the sk world - yet they're still supposed to be "important". Trosaj? Holed up somewhere for centuries where most people don't interact with him. Slayne? Inaccessible except for imm-promoted rps, and other than that he goes back into hiding (something he never did during his PC lifetime). Amberdin? Also holed up in a heavily(debatable!) fortified place where the majority of players won't see them. At that point, they fade away into obscurity where no one remembers who they are - yet they're still a NPC that has some point.

Anyone remember when someone animated the corpses of Olrin and Fresk? Anyone remember how a certain necromancer of death (in a time where the HF of faith declared necromancers as practitioners of abominations who weren't sanctioned by the clergy) bullied his way into getting a gravestone dug for himself on taslamaran land, that STILL stands to this day? That's really how I think PCs should be remembered. Give them a corpse item that can be placed somewhere that people can use for however they like. They can pretend to interact with a ghost, they can animate the body if they like, or they can skin or butcher it.

But immortality through mob-itizing? I don't really think that's called for.

well its a problem that NPCs are immortal in the first place, but it would also depend on the character.

Some characters may very well achieve immortality either through the blessing of a god or through research of their own.
