I'm for this. I think I made mention of a shipbuilder thing in one of my rants about Trade skills or professions. Probably in the new races thread.

For now can we forget about ship to ship combat... I would like a skill that lets you use small rafts, canoes, rowing boats etc. to move about Pyrathia. As far as combat goes, make it so it is handled in the same manner as when two combatants take part in mounted combat... IE makes no difference at all, (save for the not being able to be tripped thing).

Ship to ship combat is kind of out of the question. Given the current nature of the game, it'd just never happen, unless these ships we're talking about fly.

I'd like to see pilotable boats or wagons or something though, definitely.

I don't know much about how the code works, but I could see a ship as some kind of mobile room (or a collective set of like 5 rooms for large ships) that replaces the desc of whatever sea area it happens to be in. Anyone flying could simply fly onto it, land and start attacking people or whatever.

Why not just use the code for the pirate ship we've already got? If there could just be a way to give a set of sextant coordinates to the pilot and have the ship go there...
