I personally think that prayer should be accessible to priests. There is no reason why it shouldn't. It isn't overpowering and it is just an upgrade to bless.

I vote for no as well. There are already specific religion spells out there which are quite relevant to prayer, and if it were given to priests it would render useless lots of utilities that now belong to specific charming/persuasive classes or tribunal members. It would make priests even more powerful than they already are, and weaken the potential of a lot of other characters.

My point is why is this even a NPC specific skill? It doesn't make sense.

Because GGI has scripts to cast FoD and magma and hellfire and my poor PCs can't do that.

DA, certain char classes can cast FoD, magma, and hellfire.

By certain classes, he means three.

Necro, Sorc, Priest.

*Edit* As for prayer. I think it should stay a NPC only spell for casting, but may perhaps be thrown into consumable items such as incense or the like that crumble over time and are purchasable and don't last "forever".

Prayer - affects {Stuff}

When I saw the title of this thread, I assume it was talking about prayer as in what imms see when a player types <pray Whatever>.

So did I. Which I thought would be neat for the priests to see.

Now that would be neat! If prayer could have a parameter like:

pray <message> which would be visible only at immortals

while:

prayat <immortal> <message> which would be visible from specific immortal alone and all priests of his faith, if online!

It would be RPed like their Lord/Lady asked them to take care of the issue on the mortal planes, since the priests are their voices on earth. Perhaps it should also work for paladins/hellions, since they are the hand of their God on earth, too.

Not to mention all the issues about trying to enter a faith this would solve. Someone seeking to join Thuban's worship, and while the priest is keeping his identity a secret, he would finally be able to help the seeker reach the church without blowing his veil.
