I have a few fun code-related questions for any coder/past coder who happens to have the knowledge necessary to answer them! These are questions that should logically be known IC, but unfortunately...nobody is sure!

1) Does knowledge of (skill in) the weapon type you are being attacked with affect your chance to parry?

Example - If you are a swashbuckler and get attacked by a polearm, do you have a lower chance to parry than if attacked by a sword? (assuming both weapons have equal accuracy)

2) Does the place you aim affect how well you parry your opponents attacks?

Example - There used to be an old wives tale that if your opponent was aiming upper and you were aiming lower, you would have a bad chance of parrying - but if you were aiming upper or mid (closer to his aim) you would be better off.

3) Does having the riposte skill increase the amount of times you parry?

Example - a GM swash with riposte will parry more or equal to the number of times a GM swash who never trained riposte will parry?

That's all for now, coder(s) - thanks a load!

1) Yes very much so. Its harder for say, a swashee to parry spears then swords. This is why you see barbarians killing swashees with claws.

2) I'm only positive on less chances of a shield block if you aim lower versus the person with a shield. Of course, I would also love to know this answer.

3) Please tell me too! I'm really curious.

Claws are harder to parry because they can only be parried with enhanced parry, not because they are just a different type than sword. I am not asking if weapons that can only be eparried are harder to parry for swashes, but rather if weapons they simply do not know are harder to parry.

I'd prefer that NO ONE try to explain it.

This isn't a game of numbers people.

This doesn't have to do with numbers - this is obvious IC questions that should have clear answers. Does learning how to riposte make you parry more often...shouldn't that be completely obvious to everyone IC? Does knowing how polearms work let you parry them more often..shouldn't that be completely obvious IC? Does aiming at someones legs make it harder for you to parry blows to your head...also obvious IC, right?

I am not asking what the average # of hp a GM human merc has without any hp trains, or the percentage bonus one gets from each +1 damage enchant on a weapon. I don't even need a formula. Stop being a whiner.

Actually, it is a game of numbers. We are just not supposed to know what they are.

A good amount(lots) of play testing can determine this.

I highly doubt we are going to get Dulrik to answer this one.

Which means I have to do the testing myself, or else we are going to get a whole lot of 'SANCTUARY IS BUGGED' that Dulrik has to sort out in the end.

To answer your questions:

1) Yes, D said it on a thread quite a while back.

2) I am almost positive that this is a no. Mainly because, I don't think anyone would of thought of it.

3) This is a no. Riposte is an action that is determined after you parry.
