Take the experience as a part of your character and let him or her grow with it. They can end up in a completely different place than you intended them and still be fun.

This is also true. Like I said, Aerlyn was never intended to be an Adept. She wasn't happy to be rejected, but I liked her enough to continue with her regardless.

Why is it so many people make characters with such firm concepts? I know with several of my characters I have completely lost the ability to control where they are going. They start out as some idea in my head, and then they grow from there. I recall having a conversation with another player in which we said, OOCly "I see this becoming an issue. We're not going to let the RP go that way." . . . . Yeah. It went that way. Our characters demanded it.

I urge more people to let the characters grow with their experiences in the game, and not hold so much importance on "I (the player) wanted to do this instead!"

You misunderstand me this was an ooc conversation merely a new guy asking a question and that was the answer I got. Now you get on saying noone is guaranteed a spot etc how do you know that if you can't even get an ooc answer from a fellow player or you get a lame answer that you play the wrong class. 90% of the stuff I read on here was blaming everything on lack of playerbase, but then you treat new people like this and wonder?

No I asked how to go about getting into a cabal at which point I was asked which and what class which I responded and was told that they have too many of that class in that cabal because they have a limited number of people they can accept.

Then my advice to you is to continue playing your character as you would without any outside knowledge. It may be that the leaders of a certain cabal are not actively looking for your class. However, RP is how you get into any organization. If your RP fits, you will be asked to join. If it doesn't, you won't.

Agreed with Aneira. You -aren't- guaranteed a spot in a cabal, and that's just the fact of the matter. Your RP is going to determine that. Not someone's OOC opinion (it sounds like whoever told you that isn't even the one who would have a say in game).

If, for instance, you want to get into the Hammer of Light, you might want to seek out and roleplay with people who have obvious hints in their titles, such as the words "Morea" or "Queen".

Good luck!

My point is this. If you want more players then there have to be ample opportunities for every player to do something or be a part of something even if its a small part. Right now the big complaints I read on here are cabal leadership and low playerbase, but the impression I get from the forums is everyone here is so used to the same ol people that new people don't really have room to fit in. There is no information that I can find on joining a cabal and the easy thoughtless answer is things like (you have a bad attitude, you're not guaranteed a spot, RP and if they want you they'll take you) that's all well and good but not if you want more people to play. I was under the impression that you build your char up and get involved, well its hard to get involved with the opposing attitude is uhm you're the wrong class or not everyone is guaranteed. So as a new player I think ok so I have two options 1. spend countless hours building up every class/race til I find one that suits someone else or 2. take the underlining impression from Aneira's and others' comments go f*** myself play somewhere else.

You can be involved in the world without being in a cabal or tribunal. All it takes is RP. I said your attitude was poor only to encourage you to stick with your character and not blame others on "ruining" it for you. I was trying to be polite and helpful. I firmly believe that if you allow others to dictate what you play, you will not have any fun in this game. Also, I'm relatively new to the game and have never had a problem "fitting in".

If you take the OOC opinion of one player as the IC opinion of the entire playerbase, then I'm afraid you're going to have a very rough time in game. Keep your head IC, stay away from OOC circles, RP your character and you'll do just fine.

I believe you're taking my posts quite wrongly. I've meant to do nothing but be helpful to you. I do not have a "go f--- yourself" attitude.

Aneira is one of the nicest players this game has.

You're not going to find any information, because they are supposed to be player-run groups for those that prove themselves worthy of being a part of them. They're supposed to be made of people who are selected for IC actions and values that their characters have that unify them into a cabal group. You have to interact with the characters who can let you in. There's not an "abracadabra-you're-in-a-cabal-now" option. If you don't want to RP for a position in a cabal, you're not going to get one.

I'm sorry if you don't like that answer, but there's really not another one to give.
