By the way:

Just like D&D, physical stats are always superior to mental stats. So, a 24 int will never, ever be as good as a good physical stat.
It is obvious that you have no sense for dnd.

I'll not go as far as to explain the superiority of mental stats to physical stats when it comes to RP, but even talking about system, just take my word for it, mental stats are so unfathomably superior to physical stats that you would easily sacrifice 10 con for 3 points of int.

Need I remind you of a little man named Raistlin who had 3 con?

And if you don't know who raistlin is, you do not deserve to play D&D. :P

To summarize, Both rpwise and systemwise, in D&D:

casters > non-casters.
Casters rely on mental stats / non-casters rely on physical stats.
Thus:
Mental stats > physical stats.

Will a high str save you from a grappling monster? Maybe.
Will having enough int to get an extra 8th level spell enable you to memorize a quickened dimension door, which will allow you to escape a grapple by casting a verbal only spell as a free action? Yes. And then you can continue by disintegrating/mind controlling whatever it was that caught you. If worse comes to worse, you can always slipgate it into the astral plane where int becomes dex and wis becomes str, and wrestle it there to your heart's content.

Out of context post, but it is Gary gygax's funeral day, so I felt like talking D&D :p

I'll have to disagree with you Erevan...

No matter how powerful spells you got, it's still a limited number.
The stat "strength" counts double as much as any other stat, at least according to the core books.

According to the core books, charisma counts half as any other stat, but when you play a paladin it:

Increases your saves by your cha modifier.
Increases your damage by your cha modifier.
Increases your +atk by your cha modifier when smiting
Increases the number of turn undead yo uhave, which you use to increase your atk or AC by your cha modifier.
Increases your save dc's for paladin spells
Increases your save dc for lay on hands (when you throw it in the face of a lich)
Increases the HP total of your lay on hands, using your cha modifier as a multiplier to your paladin level.

So where would you put your points as a paladin? I'd say charisma.

Strength? Only for fighters. As I said, sure, str does not run out. Str is to last you all those mini fights until you reach anything important, where you let the other stats do the job. :P

Charisma doesn't count half as much, it has the same value as con, dex, wis, int. It's the players who set their charisma with the lowest number for one reason or another.

Sure...Charisma or any other stat can grant several circumstancial bonuses BUT at the balancing of racial stats any +2 str will be followed by a -4 to other stats in order to keep the race playable with no power race tag.

By core books, a +2 to cha is equal to -1 to any other stat.
