There is 'help hammer', 'help fist', etc in the help files. There is also 'help vow', and 'help code' in the help files, which are the ones that prompted this question. That is a lot of very specific and direct information for the two classes in SK.

Can those information be potentially used in IC if the characters choose to? If they so choose, how did they come to such knowledge? Is it similar to the 'who list' situation? Are help-files just that, help-files that exist to help things along in SK?

I've always treated help files as things that are considered common knowledge - the sorts of things that, potentially, everybody knows.

I don't think help files should be considered to all be IC knowledge of all characters.

It doesn't make sense for every character to know details about every skill and ability in the game, for example.

Help files are primarily for providing players with information. It is then up to the player to determine how much the character should know. Should you know the names of all gods? Perhaps, but should you know the spheres and history of every god, or is that something that would be better learned in character by meeting with priests? It depends on how you see your character's education. I would prefer that most characters don't start off knowing everything in the help files.
