I think he means that even though you have your target you could still get to a random place. Like a teleport spell in DnD, where there is a chance if you're not really familiar with a place you could end up somewhere "like" it.

Rifts can be set to targets (portal stones), but if you don't know where you're going (which is what happens when you normally make a rift), you go somewhere random. Rifts also last a bloody long time.

Obviously you didn't get it either.


C gate "Common ticket NPC" A gate opens, and you go through and it's not "the Common ticket selling NPC" but rather another place. Even if you put the right place to teleport in, you still got random. Which as I understand is not like rift. Or is like rift but with a wrong keyword or no keyword.

I shall for my own amusement offer another stupid proof example. :lol:

After a hard days nothing you decide to gate to the stones of any kingdom. Your group is really anxious to get there for some reason. So now you go ahead and "cast gate teron stones" and zomg being in the randomness of near tic your gate opens and you go through and end up at another stones, or somewhere random. Tic happens and gate closes.


Seriously though. It is annoying but if it's to much to fix leave it. Though two tic timers would be a little nicer.

Well, malhavoc understood what I said while others just made this thread into another pit between butt cheeks. So I guess the solution chosen is just to leave gate as it is :P with no fun coding involved.

Honestly, what you were describing was rift. It already exists in game.
