Old edrain was just flat out stupid. It wasn't feared in PK, it was at best feared OOCly, because you would have to grind to get it back. No spell should be feared on an OOC basis. It should be some temp lvl drain with some maledict effects.

Rename Energy Drain to something like Corruption and have it temporary blemish the victim (also move it over to a master level spell). Have it last as long as spirit disorientation and like it if they are hit again have it stacks. Paladins and Battle priest will not be so gun-ho about hunting them and it would give new players who play necros at least some breathing room instead getting hunted from the start.

Now that is badass. How about leaving Edrain alone and just adding Corruption.

Frankly, I really haven't heard much of anything here that would actually bring any improvement.

To "fix" something with an "answer" that's just as lame as the "problem" is a waste of time.




Yeah, that means temporary level loss is kinda [REDACTED].

That's a damn cool idea.

Definitely be a willpower based spell to save against, and really only effective against priests/pallies. That would definitely solidify the enemity between necromancers and paladins.

Mehlindi tried to do this to a character of mine through some dodgy "rp" that Nimolgay made me do. So I RPed casting a holy word and getting rid of that [REDACTED].

Corruption is laaaaaaaame RP in a game with 'remove curse'.

Why would remove curse remove corruption? Can spirit disorientation be removed by a spell? Edrain used to remove large chunks of xp from players. This way the level stuff is not present however multiple spirits disorientation plus whatever buffs on the player (haste, GS) will make the necromancers feared while at the same time players are not grinding to get back the xp.

Also Sypher limiting it to paladins and priests wouldn't make sense. It has to be everyone, sometimes necromancers make foes on the dark side to.
The spell should take a large chunk of ME to make to so that it cannot be scribed.
