This is so commonly stated that it appears that it must be true. However it's actually false. There are plenty of bizarre cheats that I've busted over the years that twinks have used that your average non-twink would never have even considered using, unless instructed to do so by a twink.

A few cheats found and busted is not what I'm talking about, and I really think you know it. At least, I'd like to hope that you do.

I'm also not making an appeal to the popular in making my statement that many of the changes you put in place harm the non-twink levelers who have a rough enough go of things without you putting more stumbling blocks in their way, without actually impeding the twink levelers for more than a day or two while they figure out a new trick that'll completely negate your effort to slow or stop them from plvling. I couldn't care less whether it has been stated once before, or a million times before, or never before. It's true, however many times it's previously been stated.

Dulrik allow master and higher to be immune to thievery so that people can actually enchant their gear worth a damn before GM. Front load the stat points and give extra stat points to those who reach GM as a reward. If you want less GMs and lower level characters making an impact this is a good step.

MY SOLUTION:

Marry the problems of grinding/time. PUT a limit on the time one has to invest in a character to get to GM. Here's the set up:

Easy sailing through JM.
Concentrated levelling through Mentor.
Utter horsecock grindage through Champ.

At the time that a character hits Champ, there begins a timer. One week past the time a character hits Champ 1, the trainers will review him for Champ 2, and etc. until they have invested at least a month into the character, and will have (hopefully) established themselves in the realm.

Thoughts?

I've got a thought, but it isn't very polite.

OA says twinks will not be slowed, but over behind that folks like Jar Deck saying that it's so hard they're going to quit for an easier game.
I have to wonder out loud which one of these is right? OA says we will lose lowbies/newbies, Jar and some others say we'll only have lowbies/newbies left.
ilkaisha's idea, my knee-jerk reaction to that is NO NO NO. Maybe just because the suggested length between levels was a whole week. I'm not completely against this idea, but I think some of the other ideas would have to addressed with it. Like, if it takes 4 weeks to GM (scary) from champ, I want to be able to have a fully equipped, enchanted suit of protection for all the GMs who'll be using the knowledge against me.

The ACTUAL problem is the player mindset behind GM. It's not going to change, really. We're ALL the weathered veterans of "oh my god, i must level." I can get behind giving the Champs the opportunity to hold on to "leet eq"s, I suppose, but then you'd have to give some other, different sort of edge to GMs.

Dulrik does not want a cakewalk to GM. I don't think that 1 month is too much to ask at all, if the changes were implemented so that Mentor/Champ were actually important contributing members of Pyrathia.

Actually, I'm saying there will be nobody left, period. Newbies will leave because it's too hard, oldbies will leave because it's too annoying.

I like the idea of rested XP in WoW. If something similar to this could be worked in with age of char and time played to double your XP gained while leveling. This would help contain the twinks Pleveling while not hindering those at a normal speed and help those who level infrequently. I strongly dislike hard coding to stop level based on real time or hours logged. How ever to give a bonus for those who log in but dont grind to make the grind easier later would hopefully incorage exactly what D wants people to start focusing on the game earlier in a chars leveling.
