You can always tweak banish so that it isn't permanent. Let's say that your character has a certain number of crimes, if he is not seen in the kingdom, doesn't fight guards etc then the banishment if lifted after I dunno 30 years.

I agree . . . no to deathmark. Crimes should have an expiration date, and so should banishment.

For instance:

Mugging should end after 5 IC yrs.
Theft should end after 10 IC yrs.
Low murder should end after 20 IC years.
High murder and banishment should end after 30 IC years.

If I missed one or two sorry but these are the ones that I remember.

I do agree with Jhorleb's perspective that there should be something you can slap on KNOWN criminals even if they haven't technically commited any crimes in your nation.

It's like Bin Laden walking around in Great Britian. Sure he hasn't technically done anything against the Brits, but they sure as hell would arrest him on the spot.

Deathmark was a useful tool to keep unwanted people out of your nation, to prevent known enemies from just sitting in your inn or something waiting for people to show up.

As it is, I really dislike how permanent banish is, and how you can't banish someone till they've commited a crime in your country.

If you want them outlawed and to have them commit a crime. Just have your local swashie taunt them. That is how Ace committed a crime in Zhensh once, somehow.

Make the leaders write a forty line note stating the RP reasoning behind each deathmark given, in addition to paying for the deathmark being placed. Flimsy excuses can then be shown IC and rectified when stupidity starts to run rampant...more so than usual.

Last thing we need is for certain people get a hold of a deathmark ability.

Another QQ thread. Less than a year after banishment was "modified". Stop proposing ooc solutions to your problems. This is as ooc as the last change that took place. And there is nothing more stupid than characters in game trying to justify ooc crap ic.

If deathmark appears once more, we'll have more [REDACTED] rem all;drop all;auto surrender;t priest rezplzkthx;take all;wear all RP.

It already happens enough nowadays in SK, we don't need more gimps around.

I don't see how its the code's responsibility to police a kingdom. That's why we have tribunals. If the tribunal isn't up to the job, maybe they need to stop warring.
