Let’s keep in mind that I intended these quests to be open to anyone when I made them. That means newbies and lowbies alike. With that in mind, I had taken the time to think that not only would lowbies be traveling out that way anyway (for training areas), but that they would return when they needed to come back to level. Despite the fact that these quests are designed for lower levels, all of the same risks exist regardless of if you are doing the quest or you are not. Let’s face it, most lowbies head off in that direction anyway to go to a certain area. The chances of becoming lion bait or becoming a wind sock are just as good in other activities. Again I will say that the mentors offer other advice and if one pays close attention to them and the area you are in, then one would find that my “horrendous” walking quest is actually not so bad if you get things that are just waiting for you to take. One of the quests will be modified because you have to go back into the academy to complete it and since that is not a possibility for levels 6+ anymore, I will fix it. I may even go a step further with aiding lowbies/newbies in completing those two long walk quests.

Heading that way along the roads (read: no lion spawning areas) is one thing, but you can't do that for said quests. I'm just saying that the best and probably only fix needed for those quests is that an eighth head of a certain vegetable should be spawned, instead of forcing two trips out there.

What making trainers do a double-take when you train level 5, since the surprise moment seems to be taking some people unawares.

A trainer NPC says 'Ho, you think you've no use for these trainers any more? You might want to gather all you can before you graduate here for good!'
(Obviously the wording needs work, but you get the idea)

Not a bad idea. I may make a notice of some sort in there.

The Academy has undergone the changes needed.
*Trainers, weapons and armor are now available to all levels.
*The quest in question has been changes so that you can also give the lettuce to Iserken and the amount of lettuce needed has been changed.
*An item has been changed to give a small amount of help to PE starving newbies. I won't tell you what it is, you have to figure it out.
*The elderly guy now tells newbs how many levels they have to advance before they get thrown out.
