Once player characters get to grand master and receive enlightenments, one begins to gain a buffer for raises, it looks good when it finally says "You may advance" and pray that Dulrik allows up to level 60 with some kind of expansion pack some day. Hey, hey, how about you get 100% of your PE at level one? Pretty please? I'm begging!

You can take an item that is your level or lower, then cast an enchant spell on it five times. And the two levels it gains per cast will not count against you?

So you can be level 45 and take a level 44 weapon and enchant it five times to make it near god-like (lvl 50) but you could still keep it at level 45?

...or a level 41 can take a level 40 object and enchant it to GM and still keep it?

Correct.

But only the first 10 levels of enchantments don't count against you. And this protects you from "level thieves" but not "time bandits". Time bandits are what take your items during a monthly update if you haven't spent enough time playing the game. They both use the same message at login.

I asked Dulrik if we could front load HP, ME, and PE, and he said that its already something he did long ago. You get more of your stats earlier on.

It's not only true, it's ALWAYS been like that. All the HP and PE is front-loaded. By Journeyman, you already have 70% of your maximum.

Why is it like that? Because I've been of the opinion all along that your character should be core complete by Master. I also believe that there should be diminishing returns when gaining additional levels. So while gaining more levels still helps, each new one helps less than the last.

So GM has the bonus of having weapons that are +9+9 and most likely a master can't. I like it.

Level thieves and time bandits.

Hehe.

I voted helps but grind anyway, even though I likely won't see another GM because I suck at grinding those final 10 levels. (I suck at grinding the final 20 but champ eludes me.)

I haven't been on to toy with enchanting, but does the quality status still improve on the first enchant? I mean if I know my level can only keep "average" gear and it's rated "above average" will it get stolen or do I have to hope it was enchanted to "above average"?

Much of the changes definitely helped and I'm quite pleased by most of them. Not having successfully leveled a nec above init, I cannot comment on their situation. I'm still wondering if this will help my griffarb in any real way. It may help in PvP but since I am a botttom-feeder in PvP, that's irrelevant for me. I don't really see it helping in PvE.

Back to enchanted gear, if quality improves on the first enchant, and it should, is it possible to add a little "There appears to be a set of initials etched on the edge" sort of thing to the desc of an item so people can adjust upward their ability to beat back those pesky thieves?

I don't know how quality corresponds to level. I guess quality indicates a range of levels. You can cast several enchants on an object before it will count extra levels for enchantments. After level 40, you basically can enchant gear for your level as strongly as you want. Enchanted gear never goes beyond level 50, and 50 - 10 = 40. So at master, if you have gear for your level, you should be able to enchant as high as the items will take.

Don't forget that each enchant counts as two levels.

I know I've put more than +5 on things, easily.

True, but at master, you can't enchant anything enough that it will be lost to level thieves. The maximum level for items with enchant would be 50 - 10 which ends up making all level 40 gear take as many enchantments as can be applied for a level 40 character.
