her failures with spells, even mastered ones, is just outstanding. Which makes me wonder what is going on at times.

I find it a bit humorous that as a GM with gate superb or mastered, she has to turn off auto summon to gate to a NPC. Yes, a NPC. She has on the proper attire for her class/faith, yet she fails almost every time trying to gate and it can be random places.

Uhh... you don't fail mastered spells unless you're wearing heavy armor or deaf. At least I never did.

Secondly ain't no way you have to auto summon to gate to NPCs. It might just be your head messing with you because it seems to work when you toggle it.

With my GM sorceror, I have gate mastered, no other spells cast, and I fail gate on every attempt. Trying to get to stones from the next room is impossible. Unless I scribe and recite, then I have no trouble succeeding. When people ask for a gate, I feel like salt is being poured onto this big gaping wound.

The change from 'perfect' to 'mastered' was made because spells do in fact fail even at that status. The % is very low, but it does happen. Usually, when you are in a dire situation and need the spell most!

A lot of wilderness rooms are, absurdly enough, flagged as 'warded' areas. Make sure you are sitting in a room that allows transportation through gates and that you are spelling the name of the portal stones correctly. If that doesn't work, I am at a loss.

I've never had a mastered spell fail outside of things like gate and summon which can be resisted. I thought the change from perfect to mastered was made to reflect the fact that you still fail skills, not spells.

You can tell the difference in a fail and a resisted spell by the mana cost. Actual spell fails are half mana.

I know, but I usually don't pay that close attention.
