I think they've heard enough arguments about it. It works as a way to track people down. It always has, but for -some- reason, it has suddenly become the rage and people are complaining about it. There are ways around it.

Yes, this goes well with my theory of the increased popularity of the priest class now that religion spells are in, meaning more people have locate object, meaning more people are using (abusing?) it.

The only reason it was made public, is because it was implied that it might have been a bug Dulrik wasn't aware of. Can we get the official policy on the matter? Is this illegal, or can people continue (ab)using it without having to worry about possible consequences?

This has been public for a long time, at least it was to me. I thought everyone knew.

Hey Orac, don't degrade me to your lameness level.

I don't patrol areas and hope to get a random kill. I track down enemies and get specific kills. There is a small difference. I don't care if I see a random elf killing in CoH or Tlax and I won't go after him. I will care if this elf has summon killed my allies though or is a known enemy cabal member. And I won't go after him when he is levelling. I will go after him when I can track him down. For example I've sent gank squads to Fist scouts quite a few times because I tracked down them through their herbs or arrows. Levelling is just another process that makes it easy to get information from locate because most people are careless. But it can be done at EQ hunting, at buying items from stores, at randomly wandering the wilderness and fighting aggro NPCs etc. Most of these situations can be avoided if the players are careful. If they are not, they deserve to die.

EDIT: And Lirimaer, only today my char has visited far more areas than what your char has visited the whole last week. You can't say you locate anything on me and know instantly that I am in the Iron Citadel for example, right? The Black Hand exclusive Iron Citadel. :P

All relation to the topic aside, what the [REDACTED] is this supposed to mean?

c 'locate object' d-a's character

D-A's character is Somewhere that only other alliance mates can get to him.

You say to yourself, 'Well, I know where he is now.'

That's what it's supposed to mean.

She thinks, like most of the playerbase, that I do nothing all day but sit inside the Moot. Just today not only I left the Moot, but I've visited places Lirimaer probably has never visited in her lifetime. And I'm not talking only about the Iron Citadel.

The Black Hand exclusive Iron Citadel is sarcasm. Unless she thinks for example that only my tribunal has access to that area, or any other area I visit. Hell, everyone has access to every single area my char has access, even in the Moot.

Man, that tribunal name is so damn funny to anyone who speaks Greek. I was thinking about it just the other day, when it was announced. I have no idea how to translate it though, I do not think it is possible.

Η ΜΑΥΡΗ ΜΟΥNΤΖΑ.

It sounded awfully like you flaunting your [REDACTED] is all, a trait that usually makes it quite a pain to discuss matters with you.

Now there's a pun here somewhere, just waiting to happen.

We now have

Η ΜΑΥΡΗ ΜΟΥΝΤΖΑ / TO MAYPO ΦΑΣΚΕΛΟ

and

ΤΟ ΣΥΜΒΟΛΟ ΤΗΣ ΑΝΟΙΧΤΗΣ ΠΑΛΑΜΗΣ!

..both.

Hilarity at its best, surely. All we need now is for the official greeting of the black hand members to be this:

X extends his open hand towards Y, fingers apart.

X says 'Parta.'
