Yeah, and I'm hoping that he's beyond the "Because I said so and that's final" mentality. Whether he realized it or not, his argument was full of a bunch of red herrings and didn't address the bulk of the arguments against the change.

He's not, but he won't actually bother to come right out and say that. Instead, he'll just start ignoring anything you said that contradicts his "say so," whether what you say defeats his say so logically or not.

I think you're missing the point here. The question is why a principled or aberrant person would take up the profession of rogue. Aberrants value honor above all else. Principled people aren't slouches in the honor department either. What's their motivation to learn this profession?

Hellions may have stealth in their skillset, but it's a profession that's consistent with aberrant alignment. Devotion to a god through an honorable code that permits, even demands vengeance - what could be a better match?

I agree you can have principled or aberrant people who use stealth or assassinate. But professions in SK aren't just a list of learnable abilities to choose from. Just as warlocks are required to honor Yed as part of the profession's RP, rogues are required to tolerate stealing as part of theirs.

You can argue that classes ought to be less defined, and I'd agree to some extent. But the rule here is consistent with how we're handling classes these days. Further, we have enough alignment mismatch problems without encouraging questionable choices.

Granted people have been playing hellions (and paladins) badly since day one. I've had some thoughts about how to deal with this. One way would be that if you ever attacked when your opponent couldn't see you, it would automatically cause a blemishment that would have to be atoned. I could also see this in the case of paladins attacking other light auras.

I think you should get right on that.

It's really not so cut and dry as all that. What if a paladin found a light aura murdering someone under their protection. Or what if like, nerina went to war with exile. It's happened before.

What if a hellion has told a man he will kill him. Then has to go invis and hidden to get past guards to kill the man in his own city. Like, if he is visible before the strike he'll get jumped, but cleaving someone from the shadows in the heart of their own fortress surrounded by their allies by a lone hellion is not an act of weakness.

Yes they are and no they aren't, in that order.

Yeah, my last warlock got attacked by a Yed Warlock because I told him to screw off when he went all like "ZOMG YOU BOW DOWN TO YED NOW".

Warlocks don't have to pray to Yed, just likes Sorcs don't have to join Mira, and Druids don't have to join Nashira.

I read the thread and it didn't change my opinion. I don't have extra time in my life to endlessly gnaw on a topic where nobody is going to budge. You can argue all you like amongst yourselves, but I'm moving on.
