Mechanics wise, it's not negative energy.

Elves/delves/sprites/halflings are all resistant to it because it's just magic.

It says negative energy, but it's not. Just like help halfling/sprite/elf/delf says they have innate magical resistance, but they don't. It's magical protection.

I have heard mechanics discussed more than RP around here....

Delear and Inzaarid are some of the only deep-elves I can think of who have aged died recently....

In the next year, provided they don't delete Elriorith, Lirimaer, Sithara, and Linarumien will all age die or be darn close to it.

But wow....to insult people who play elves and continue it right up until age-death is not cool.

Props to the other players who have done it. It is not easy to play a character for that long. There are highs and lows in doing it. Obviously sticking with such characters shows the players' dedication to RP, and perhaps a bit of stubbornness.

Elves and deep-elves have *gasps* flaws...OMG...they are not OMG perfect....each race has flaws...each race has advantages...

Let's look at some non-mechanical advantages and disadvantages to elves/deep-elves...

They have amazingly long lives. That long life can be both a blessing and a curse for the character and those around them. It means people are stuck sometimes with someone they can't stand longer than they want to be.

An age death of one of these races is really the closing of an age. Suddenly a face that has always been around is gone, it is the end of an era. It creates this void. You feel that something is missing. Long played characters have impacts on the game, like it or not.

Races with long-lives are able to do more change, thus we expect them to make a higher impact on the game. They should be able to cause a lot of change and exert a lot of influence over the 3+ RL years they are played.

Yea, this is all starting to sound a little bit like it is repeating over and over.

The mechanics are not why I chose to make an elven priestess of Love. The concept was something that was interesting to me. In fact, my RL sister had a similar concept and created an elven priestess of Love right around the same time I did, without us discussing it.

If you log in for an hour every week in order to get to age death, it defeats the point. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, so don't get uppity unless you've got a guilty conscience.

But yeah, that's totally [REDACTED] lame to play like that just to get age death.

Wasn't Linarumien cursed by Sadr to never age or some junk?

Wish I could get in on that kind of curse.

That would cause quite a bit of pain and suffering to the entire mud.
