You could always choose a ranged spec.

Waki and epee would be okay specs if you were size giant. The problem with them is that against other players, you have craptacular damage out put. Anyone with a decent two handed spec is just going to outdamage you.

I've also not seen any mercs ever use a mace spec. There's some decent maces in the game. A warhammer would be particularly awesome against races weak to blunt damage.

Whips aren't bad at all. They also have a bonus to disarm people with that people tend to forget about.


You could also do a halberd spec for the one day that you get ggi's halberd...heh.

You could spec in riding crop and cane...get yourself a pimp hat...rp a pimp...yeah...or a fop.

Crossbows freaking hurt. I can't believe no one's done a light armor/energy armor crossbow merc since the change.

I thought about pike but only good pike I know of is being hoarded. It wont be the best but it has reach. I did think about crossbow, but its not often a merc is behind someone, and I doubt a storebought pet would last long enough to kill someone with a crossbow.

Siege crossbow would be a great spec for a tribunal merc. That way they could have a solid tank and pet in front of them.

Maybe ill go Landy, almost as good as the Flamberge and has reach.

I was shocked when I saw the one merc specced in landsknecht. Then I checked the stats, and laughed when I saw that it was actually a good spec.

It still remains a worse option than battlespear imo.

Ghor had 2 mercs in a row, one specced in wakizashi/bspear, one in khopesh/landie. It turned out khopesh was a better one hander spec and bspear was a better reach two hander spec.

Im sure all the good material battlespears are taken by mercs and mages for their charms and hard to come by.
