Having a caster in your group with good staves/wands/scrolls is way way way more useful than having a good warrior.

Having a warrior with good armor is way way more handy in solo pk than a caster. Unless we're talking about necromancers, but they still have to prepare a lot, and they've got that massive weakness that we all know and love.

There are 2 magma staves in SK.

How many flamberges are in SK? How many khopeshes? How many battlespears?

Let's be serious, you are talking about very limited equipment here. Unique items are supposed to be powerful.

And I'd still prefer to have a merc specced in khopesh with Nightfall in my group than a sorc with D'Astae staff or the triple FoD or triple harm scroll anyway.

PK in this mud is led by 3-4 people who are online all the time. If any of these people had a magma staff, had holy word/heal scrolls, had triple fod scrolls, had any of the [REDACTED] that is being 'kept safe' - people would be complaining far more.

Yes, as we all know, [REDACTED] newb meleers are nearly as strong as 'veteran' ones. I have long been an advocate for making 'hard to get' weapons do more damage than 'easy to get' weapons. I think that the top end warriors in the mud should be doing the same damage they do now, but the crappier warriors should be doing 1/2 this damage.

I don't think melee damage is too high, I think scrolls/wands/staves are too powerful, and this change will just buff them.

Yes, warriors can be better in small group pk. Thats true, thats how its always been. Warriors though need t o get insane suits of armor just to not -instantly- die to casters. Casters can sit 3rd row and then zap ethereal wands on themselves the moment [REDACTED] starts going wrong. Honestly you guys are complete idiots if you think melee is better than casters now, straight up you just don't understand the game well and your opinions shouldn't count for jack [REDACTED].

Brandishing/zapping/reciting can be -infinitely- better than anything a warrior can put out, don't argue with this, its a fact. Get a warrior with an insane suit of armor, and an insane weapon and maybe he'll be able to stand up in a 1v1 battle against a caster, maybe. Worst case scenario for the warrior? He dies, worst case scenario for the caster? He zaps himself with an ethereal wand and walks away. I mean seriously, maybe if the noob casters now actually used the eq they had access too they would realize how absurdly cheap their is. The mere fact that their are animate dead, color spray, charm person, fod, magma, sleep, fear, energy drain.... the list goes on and casters are still complaining is astounding.

I mean seriously, there are two mamga staves in the game, but when was the last time you saw a magma staff used in PK? Never, because casters are long living MOFO's who hoard their eq.

I mean flat out, when was the last time you all saw an overpowered staff brandished in pk? Why don't you actually use the eq you think is underpowered and post a log of it during pk, then we can all make a decision. Basically what i see now is people hoarding the most jacked magical items in the game, -literally- not using them, and then complaining they aren't strong enough. I guarantee you if you brandish an overpowered sleep staff or magma staff during a pk, it'll completely and utterly outperform anything a warrior can dish out. Yes, there may be only a few of these items in the game, but there's really only like 30 of us playing so the 8 or so absurd items in the game should be -plenty- considering the damage they can inflict.

I agree with Algon.

Who cares if it makes sense or not, a steel khopesh should not do the same damage as one made out of energy or adamantite.

Edit : Well, I agreed with what he posted and then deleted. =/ Uh...He didn't delete it, somebody else just posted before me! My mistake.

Seriously, the moment one of you takes a gander at a log with a caster brandishing an overpowered staff you'll realize how completely jacked stave's in particular are.

I don't see how it 'makes sense' that a wooden khopesh hurts as much as one made out of energy, but maybe that's just me.

All this argueing I realize is stupid. Lets just argue using factual information, IE Logs. Those people who think magical damage is underpowered should go ahead and post logs of them trying out overpowered staffs during group pk, and then let us decide if they are too weak or not. Not this stupid speculative [REDACTED], where the people who do have these overpowered items, refuse to even use them and claim they are too weak. Post some logs, let us actually decide based on facts... it would be the first time in years.

If you don't have a log or you can't make a log with you trying out these items then you have no place here complaining that those items are too weak, because you haven't even tried them out.

First you give me arguments about unique items.

So here is your own logic to counter your arguments.

Ether wire. There. No ethereal caster is safe anymore from melee. Satisfied?

And enchant armor is not that hard really. If you are bored, magic will own you. If you enchant the hell out of your suit, you will resist 95% of spell damage.

Do you want melee and spellcasting to be balanced? Make one with such a suit nullify 95% of melee damage also. Until then, melee >>> magic.
